Well, doesn't need to be doublethink. Of course, Putin is good and His glorious nipples are the only thing protecting Russia from the West, but even He cannot prevent the West from hurting the rubles.

I hate to be counter-productive, but it just doesn't work that way. I probably can't back it up, but I just feel that's not the logic the people use.
If you ask them what is their prognosis of russian economy due to sanctions and embargoes, they'll probably repeat what was on the TV: about domestic manufacturers developing and raising production and eliminating the supply deficit caused by sanctions all while never raising prices, about Russian technology quickly catching up with the west and EU and US collapsing due to their own imperisalistic ambitions and our counter-sanctions.
If you then ask them why the rouble is falling and why they are buying dollars they'll just wave their hands around and say smth like "you do see what's happening don't you?" but they'll have trouble putting that "happening" into words, like if the language they speak had no words to talk about bad things occuring in Russia, not elsewhere. It's totally about having two different pictures of the world in their heads at the same time.

Yeah, about that - sex ed can be done (as is being actively done) without promoting sex for fun and profit (it's oddly fitting description, now that I think about it). As long as you are not promoting anything (and you really need to try to qualify for promoting, as we have had rulings about wearing swastikas on T-shirts that said it is not promotion of Nazism), it's perfectly fine to teach kids. Nothing would even need to change, as current sex ed in Poland seems to be pretty effective, comparing things like STD rates and underage pregnancies with places like Sweden and UK, and it is perfectly within the realm of legal with quite a lot wiggle room to boot.

Speaking of banning 'homosexual propaganda', members of one of the largest opposition parties here in Poland have recently been trying to criminalize sexual education.

Well, if it ain't strawman, I don't really know what is.

First of all, the proposition for the bill was put up to debate by people (250 000 people signed the petition, or something around that), so there's that.
Second thing is, the proposition would effectively ban only sexual education that is so ridiculously over-the-top that I honestly can not believe to this day that it somebody can propose it with straight face - like teaching pre-schoolers about boons of masturbation and stuff.
And most importantly, it was about stopping the sexualization of young people, with the actual wording being:
"The same penalty* applies to whoever promotes or commend sexual activities by children below the age 15** or supply them with items helping with conducting such activities".
*The penalty from the previous paragraph, about promoting pedophilia, which is up to two years in prison.
**Legal age for sexual activities in Poland; interestingly, while you can screw around being 16, you can not take your own naked photos.

As for the biggest opposition party, there will be probably next to no move in polls, but it seems that next year they will indeed stop being the biggest opposition, and will become the ruling party instead. Again, I might add, as Law and Justice already ruled in 2005-2007.

b) Ahahaha, no. It is, as the least cynical, an attempt to backdoor (no pun intended) abstinence-only education. More realistically, it's cultural warfare. The change proposed in the bill is very short and very simple - 'whoever publicly propagates, encourages or supplies minors below the age of 15 to partake in sexual behaviors will be punished likewise [as someone convicted for propagation of pedophilia]'

It does not specify any specific cutoff point of 'ridiculous' - it's broad enough that anything that dares to affirm that children don't grow their sexual organs at 15 is punishable. Or, for that matter, telling them that birth control is a thing.

Meanwhile, the initiative's reasons for introducing that is delightfully transparent - hell, if you look at their website, their logo is a crossed-out rainbow. GEE, I WONDER WHAT COULD THAT IMPLY?

It's also quite enjoyable in how scare-mongering it is - the mysterious, malicious, capital-T 'They' (DUN DUN DUN) abound, so do scare quotes, with the name of the tab with the information about the proposition is 'THEY'RE COMING FOR YOUR CHILDREN'.

Not too long ago, commercials like these weren't broadcast in the Netherlands until after small children bedtime (say 21:00h). Since a few years, Discovery Channel broke this unspoken decency rule, that up until then was even upheld by commercial channels like RTL and SBS. Now our children watching Discovery channel not only learn useful stuff, they also learn about pleasure gel, vaginal creme, and strawberry flavoured condoms
But that is not sex-ed. That is just blunt americanist commercialism

First one is de-facto independence of the currently occupied region but Ukrainian budget will pay social payments and fund rebuilding of infrastructure. That is called "Special status under Poroshenko's peaceful plan"

Second one is even funnier: Amnesty to everyone who didn't commit capital crimes should they lay down arms in the month after Law will come to power, should they lay down arms. Considering that Poroshenko kindly gave them right to appoint their own judges in the occupied region that is amnesty to everyone

Well, I hope next time my nation will understand that nationalists is the only solution....

Well, I'm not going to link to WHO documents right now, but the short version is: if your sex ed curriculum calls for 9 year old kids to have proficiency in using condoms, something is very, very wrong. Also, I have included wording of the new law, as good as I was able to translate it, and anybody can try their own conclusions, go ahead. I would like to point out one thing and one thing only: if the referendum was a mandatory after gathering a given number of people sign the petition, we could actually check what people want, by the virtue of them voting. But in Poland, it is impossible; the ruling party is sure it knows better then everyone else what everybody wants, and thus shoots down every attempt at referendum, even with as much as 1 000 000 signatures (out of about 36 000 000 people living in Poland). Let us decide for ourselves and then let's take a look what people want. With that, we could talk, I think.

Well, since having sex with anybody under 16 years of age is already illegal and punishable by 5 years (I think, but surely much more than 2), you can provide your underage lover condoms and don't worry about consequences, as those are two parts of one act and you can only be tried for the offence tied with bigger penalty, in this situation, having sex with minor.

Well, even though the Russian statement is way out of line, it is not completely void.

As a Dutch person, I am horribly ashamed to have to admit that about a fifth of our population has happily voted for the party of Geert Wilders, which is a right-wing nationalist, xenophobic, populist party. And this is not a political whim just restricted to our little insignificant country. The Scandinavian countries, France, Britain, Greece... They all have seen a spectacular rise in influence of right-wing nationalist, populist parties with xenophobic sentiments.
