I for one would love to see Frankie Boyle scream "YOU ARE A CUNT" right at him and then hit him with a chair. as that is what would probably happen. Pay per view worthy, that is. TV gold.

It would have been magnificent, alas it was not to be.

Also, given the precedent of Australia's experiment on Christmas Island and PNG, I'm really wary of any kind of offshore processing center. As I said, the only exception I would accept are camps at the major passage points in North Africa, because you already have illegal migrant camps there, and even Frontex would be gentler than the local police.
That's all I'm proposing ;)
Why not another such center in, let's say, Nigeria? Saves people the long way through Africa. Trafficking is not limited to the Mediterranean.

Because, as far as I know, they aren't camps there already, so you'd be creating a problem.

"We're not barbarians... like we were way back when?"
You missed the joke Owlbread.

I am rather saddened. George Galloway was going to debate the subject of independence with Frankie Boyle on Sky News tonight but it fell through and never happened.
Isn't Frankie Boyle still in media exile?

Apparently the guys in DNR has just issued a statement. Uh. If I'm reading it right, it says that they're not going to obey the ceasefire agreement.
They've also said generic stuff about how they're going to act on "the principles of sovereign equality of states" and "abstinence in their international relations from the threat or use of force" which is kinda hilarious coming from them.

What problem? The same people who now have to flee to Northern Africa could stay closer to home, sparing them a long - and dangerous! - journey. There might be the issue of more people applying overall, but since these hypothetical centers (not camps!) would only allow migrants we'd have to admit anyway, that's... not really a problem either.

The Socialist case for independence, a talk given by Cat Boyd, a Scottish trade union activist. It's a few months old now but I thought the points she tackled were still very interesting; particularly the idea that the British political system, perhaps "British democracy" itself, is what makes Britain right-wing.

At about 14:00 or so she sums up the idea of "radical independence" by talking about the root of the word "radical" - which in itself means "reforming the root". In order to get rid of the "weed" that is Westminster and its abominable policies, we need to tear it up by the roots; those roots are inherited privilege, finance capital, the monarchy and militarism. A Yes vote may be the catalyst we need to start tearing up those roots.

These are her finishing lines which I rather enjoyed:

"Britain is for the rich. Britain is for the already wealthy and it grows the gap between the rich and poor. Britain is for the already powerful with no way of re-empowering the disenfranchised. Britain is for those who have, and shuns those who don't. Britain is rigged and it is not in favour of ordinary people. Our movement has a chance. We've got a real chance, a huge opportunity, on September the 18th and the months beyond - and it's not just to make a new nation, and not just to make a new Scotland; but most importantly to make it ours."

Scotland's People Republic?

Meanwhile, the Novorossiya patriots are seriously, seriously unhappy with the Minsk agreement, to the point where they are one step from calling Putin "the traitor" for proposing such an agreement.

Is that code for setting up people that can beat up eventual protesters?

The only thing he said is that he intends to unite left-wing and right-wing forces and that he'll give a press conference "soon".
