At that stage, it's not a lobbying problem :  the US have a global communication spying system rouinely used to steal industrial secrets to the point that european companies have been warned against americain spying. The free trade treaty would be a disaster for the average European citizen and it's being agressiely pushed by the US. That kind of law are being pushed everywhere in the world.

No at this point the American governement exist only to further the interest of American companies.

The echelon project isn't a secret anymore, and there has been a recent scandal when we dicovered that every channel of communication of the greman governemnt were being recorded.
I think you're confusing ECHELON with PRISM, the American Internet surveillance system disclosed by Snowden.

It's even on wikipedia, look it up and look up the European parlimentary report.

What IS the echelon project? All I find is a company and conspiracy theories.

That's the thing they use to sift through your mails, calls and whatnot, I believe.

No, that's NSA, or I guess you're talking about PRISM.

What do you want me to source, then? I sourced the spying system, the extensive lobbying, congress is bought but that I don't need to source...

Maybe I'm just trying to believe that it isn't.

I meant the 'government exists only to further corporate interests'.

Still wondering how other government systems are with the lobbying and stuff.

Well the American governement has a few flaws that make it particularly suceptible to that, the more obvious being the fact that there is no ceiling for political spending. In Belgium you have what the state give you and that's it. In france you can take donation but not a lot (and sarkozy is in trouble for going above that. Actually, his party is seriously broke).
