Amputated?  :P

Ireland wasn't particularly unified to be amputated.

Well, barring...eh...what's his name. Eh, some king who started a new dynasty anyway. Might have been the O'Neills? Can't remember now. Anyway, he unified 'em all.

To remember his name, think of being slapped by a fish.

You've been Salmon'd.

It doesn't sound convincing when you say it like that.  Perhaps use some sort of aquatic animal metaphor?

He made it up the waterfall, despite it being upstream the whole way.

Yes, and now he has finally reached his destination he can spawn/fertilise some eggs and die shortly afterwards. Wait...

Well, if he doesn't get elected in a post-indie Scotland, I think the metaphor would be apt...

Tensions between Belgium and the Netherlands increase, as the nuclear reactor at Doel, 5km from the dutch border, is shown to have many, many dangerous shortcomings and maintnance issues.

Putin stated that if hostilities break out, he will do anything he can to protect the interests of Russian speaking minorities in both the Netherlands and Belgium, even if that means he will no longer be able to import Gouda cheese and trappist beer.

I might need to start digging a fallout shelter, that reactor is uncomfortably close to where I live :P

Hey stop bothering the government with meanigless problems, the imaginary linguistic tensions are way more important than a nuclear reactor collapsing.

The pieces are all falling into place - soon, the mighty German Empire shall once more rule over that unimortant bit of land on the eastern side of Belgium. Excellent *puts hands together*

At this point we'll just be happy that mighty German bureaucracy bring efficient public servicies and solve that damn linguistic problem once and for all.

Committee of Soldiers' Mothers of Russia says that they have a list of ~400 Russian soldiers killed or wounded  in Ukraine... But who cares?

Probably one of the most controversial headlines has just appeared in British consciousness in the Rotherham rape scandal, where 1400-1600 children were raped over a series of 16 years and the police worked to keep it secret in spite of numerous warnings out of short sighted political concerns.

Political correctness, pedophilia, rape and dubious police actions all tied up in one scandal all whilst all are in the national and even international spotlight.
