The iPutin is clearly defunct. It is manifesting strange geo-graphical twitches, distorts incoming and outgoing signals, and of late has even switched from standard TCP/IP to using Cold War protocols. Apple, please fix. Ohno wait, no more apples allowed near it. Damn.

@Food imports: Autarky is completely unnecessary as long as you have lots of different suppliers in lots of different places. If the whole rest of the world suddenly can't produce sufficient amounts of food, chances are you can't either.
You just need to take care that you don't get too dependent on one or a few sources, as with Europe and Russian gas.

You know, barring the chance that it's a non-fertile area. Russians might do well to look at these numbers and realize they don't make near as much agricultural product as they are led to believe. I guess you produce ~11% of the world's barley... that should help stop food prices from skyrocketing.

Some regions will be hit hard by that Russian sanctions.

Take Vladivostok for example. It is way easier and cheaper to bring whatever food from USA\Canada\Australia than from fertile Western Russia. I am sure that most of that $400 millions of imports from Australia never reached European Russia.

China is an option... but if it was a better option it would be preferred long time ago.

On other hand, really important stuff is not sanctioned (wheat, corn, soybeans, sugar and so on)

no country should have to rely on food imports to get by, such a situation invariably leads to famine when harvests half across the globe fuck up for random reasons

& when the local supply randomly fucks up (drought, flood, famine, crop diseases etc..)? Seems a more likely scenario, then everywhere else fucking up simultaneously.
2008 economical crisis

I'd take economical crisis(s) (damn it what's the plural - crisi?, crisises?) more seriously if I noticed actual changes in the quality of life of the people around me, rather then multiple news articles. Apologises to anyone who may of suffered hardship at the time, I'm just very cynical about how many economic disasters actually happen (as in actual people doing it hard) & how many are a combination of media hype & panic reactions. If I trusted the media on this one then I've just been through several serious economic disasters in the last several years, while strangely not noticing a difference in the quality of my life (or those around me).

Ukraine independence is not allowed, did you hear that, Ukrainian Ranger? Your dream will never be realized.
I suggest you to worry not about Ukrainian independence but consider a vegetarian diet :D
:D

Hey, self-induded (or at least Putin-induced). Sounds like more Australian lamb, pork & beef for my enjoyment. I wont complain. I'm sure plenty of Australian businesses would love to sell you that meat, but your government just decided that's not on. More seriously, in my opinion you'd get less food problem maintaining healthier relations with neighboring countries then us against them or isolationist/protectionist attitudes. I'm fine with a country being self-sufficent in this area (kind of sensible really), but it's hardly a disaster to go the other way & import food, & just maintain healthier relations with other nations. (& as Helgoland said, multiple sources suppliers)

The joke was moderately good, until you brought up Apple(s). Then it was great.

Batiyka Makhno was the greatest internet troll to ever live, a true Ukrainian in heart...

Oh, Nestor Makhno? I dunno, haven't heard of him much.

Heh. I was an anarchist when I was a teenager :)  Funny times

But now I see Nestor Makhno as a dreamer, military genius and very naive politican who was used by Bolsheviks to destroy first Ukrainian attempt of independence. If all pro-Ukrainian groups were actually united back then...

Ukrainians are anarchists in heart, that is our strength and our weakness. That is not a coincidence that Kropotkin and Makhno were Ukrainians

No, Instagram Doesn’t Prove Russian Troops Are in Ukraine
Quote
It’s no surprise Russian troops are operating covertly in eastern Ukraine. That includes armored units seen on video in recent days crossing pontoon bridges laid over the Seversky Donets river marking the border between Russia and Ukraine. Russian paratroopers have also uploaded photos of themselves posing next to dead Ukrainian soldiers to social networking sites.

Oh. So good thing we already know they're there? I also enjoy how the geotagging that says he's in russia is reliable.
