Probably a poor example considering it was post-revolution into another revolution, it isn't a good democratic process until people don't feel the need to revolution.

That seems like a very, very bad metric to judge the legitimacy of democracy and the effectiveness of minority right protects.  A very large number of people in the US openly advocate rebellion.  Are we supposed to conclude that American democracy has failed?

Methinks this is a bad example.

No, we're supposed to conclude American democracy has failed because it's controlled by coca cola. [/rimshot]

I find it so strange that anyone assumes that "rebellion" in Eastern Ukraine and Crimea happened because of some laws....

The seeds of rebellion that started the American revolution started with the taxation of molasses. These things have happened for less.

Yeah, except, you know, the laws passed by Britain were implemented and not just a one-off bill by a new congress that never came to anything. That's a seriously contorted comparison.

The Americans were more then willing to talk terms with the British for quite a while.  The rebels in east Ukraine dont seem so inclined.  I rather suspect this is because they know that no democratic process will give them their aims.  They could secure some regional autonomy but that doesn't interest them since most of east ukraine doesn't want Russian annexation.

So, seeing the heat is kinda going down, is it safe to ask:

Oh, Ukrainian threads, I've missed you and your atmosphere of extreme animosity and hatred so much.
Sauce plz?

My point is that general population unrest can start from something minor and escalate from the influence of rich oligarchs and corruption [EIC], backing by a foreign hegemony [France] and growing dissent towards the government [Britain] alongside national distance from the whole nation [Britain again].

*EDIT
Got the film wrong
The film is 'Fortress of War' or 'The Brest Fortress.'

If you mean the picture - it's from the Belarusian film "Brest Fortress" (released under the name "Fortress of War" in America because too many Americans were confused after stumbling on the Russian trailer on Youtube and thinking it was about boobies)

Yeah, was asking about picture. I thank you both.

Also, an idea of an abstract, surrealistic movie centered around fortress made of breasts have sprung to my mind thanks to confused Americans. WHAT HAS BEEN SEEN...

I'm not sure what you are trying to show but you left out the parts where:
1) The rebels would have laid down arms if the law was repealed
2) The foreign power wasn't supporting the rebels until after they achieved the biggest victory of the war (Saratoga)
3) The rebels were ideological (no taxation without representation, not no taxation period).
4) The rebels have an agenda that is independent of their foreign backers
5) The rebels are capable of controlling the contested territory without martial law
6) The foreign backers did not directly profit from the rebellion

Quote from: The New Yorker
Biden recalled visiting Putin at the Kremlin in 2011: “I had an interpreter, and when he was showing me his office I said, ‘It’s amazing what capitalism will do, won’t it? A magnificent office!’ And he laughed. As I turned, I was this close to him.” Biden held his hand a few inches from his nose. “I said, ‘Mr. Prime Minister, I’m looking into your eyes, and I don’t think you have a soul.’ ”

“You said that?” I asked. It sounded like a movie line.

“Absolutely, positively,” Biden said, and continued, “And he looked back at me, and he smiled, and he said, ‘We understand one another.’ ” Biden sat back, and said, “This is who this guy is!”

Putin confirmed for super villain.
