The United Kingdom of England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Cornwall should be in there too but that would probably be much later on.

It'd just be sad, like if they had continued calling themselves the British Empire
The British Empirest?

It still would be the United Kingdom, as there are still kingdoms united within it. If Scotland broke, it would simply be one less kingdom in the Union, but not the end of Union.

And we don't need more empirical evidence on the British Empire before we can build a conclusion on whether or not the Empire is empirically still there.

The Empire's just a theory.

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

The Empire's just a theory.

Precisely. And therefore it is non-empirical. It probably isn't deductive, most certainly is inductive and the conclusion is assuredly synthetic.

Therefore, we conclude it is a weak theory. The Empire isn't empirical. It is undeserving even of being used in the Leaky Bucket Analogy, in which many weak theories together form a stronger theory (Except the analogy proves it doesn't.

So, this non-empirical Empire theory isn't believable at all.

Britain is not an Empire.

It's Great Britain (Scotland, England, Wales) and Northern Ireland.

It's the U.k. (Northern Ireland, Wales, England, Scotland)

Therefore, it's three united into (sort of) one, should Scotland leave. Until Scotland leaves, it's four countries united in (sort of) one Kingdom.

I'm all for digging a channel between Scotland and the rest of Britain if it means the naming shenanigans can be skipped.

Even if Scotland leaves, they'd arguably be a part of the new non-united kingdom, still, since they'd still have the same monarch.

No, they'd be another Kingdom, in a Personal Union with the rUK.
