I hope to christ they don't give her a state funeral, but equally we need to make sure she's buried safely and her grave won't get desecrated. It's hard for grass to grow on earth constantly smoothed by a thousand trade unionists' tap dancing shoes.

Should i feel bad that my instant reaction / interpretation to this was that we needed to prevent her rising from the dead to feed on the living?

Somewhat, there's far worse people than Mrs. Thatcher that are alive today and manipulating you right now.

So. How many times do you think "Ding dong the witch is dead" will be quoted today? That, to me, is the real question.

That's what I thought when I first heard the news. You could probably make a drinking game out of it.

Of course there won't be a State funeral, she's going Private!

or maybe Valve goes out of business because they invested too heavily in something which then fails - like, say, human civilization.
Alternatively, initiate strife to refuse additional baked goods, and then abscond.

My sources say they were already getting drunk with special thanks to the Manchester derby, and now it's turned into some unholy massively undertaken quest to outdo the Russian stereotype of alcohol consumption.

Fun times.

Oho-ho-ho-ho.

But yes, I suspect there will be much debauchery and alcoholism in Scotland as much as the South. Not to mention Wales of course.

I find it hard to celebrate her death, as the death of a human with a family and loved ones is always a sad event, regardless how much hate for them I held while they were alive, and there are few that I hated with anywhere near as much passion as Thatcher. Not only that, but it wasnt so much "her" that we here in Wales hate as her political agenda and ideals - alas these do not die with her, which is a shame. What I really worry about now is that people who did not live through the time when she ripped the heart out of this country and trod on it in her jackbooted stilleto (also known as the 1980's) will now look back on her political career through some kind of rose tinted spectacles, missing a lot of the context that drove so many millions to despise the woman.

I think rejoicing in human miseries is pathethic. I do not mourn that woman but nor will I gloat in her demise.

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.
