Iceland already banned porn a while ago.

Now they are just banning it harder, because apparently it didn't help.
And so began the great migration to Denmark, for food and porn.
Sweden is better known for its porn than Denmark.

Well it's simple, the basic idea is that if you (if you happen to be a government, let's pretend you are) borrow heavily and invest the money in economic stimulus, the theory being that stimulating the economy by building up infrastructure and offering subsidies will give you more tax money later on that you can repay the loans with. Then you suffer from issues like crippling corruption, rampant crime that drinks away a lot of the money you borrowed, so then you try to reverse the policy and take up austerity, which then makes things worse for you economically, a lot of politicians jump boat (often getting magically richer), and then there's maybe a rebellion or a military coup or two that may or may not be backed by a foreign superpower. Because why not?

no, they borrowed the money and went into austerity off the bat, without any period of investment and stimulation
it seems to me they just added the interest fee to the already overwhelming debt for no benefit at all

Pnx

i think pretty much everyone agrees with that. even the president(merely a figurehead in portuguese politics) who's from the same centre right party as the prime minister, has publicly come out against the austerity measures

Didn't he get immunity by being elected?

That's the IMF loan strategy. In debt? Economy collapsing? Borrow a ton of cash from the US/UK governments, pay all the cash to your existing (private) creditors (who just happen to be in the US and UK - you won't see them offering IMF bailouts to countries in debt to China down the track - that's my prediction). Then, cut all local spending and raise taxes to try and squeeze out the money to pay back the IMF.

Pretty much the exact opposite of what the US and UK do when faced with the same crisis.

They also make you have a fire-sale of as much local assets as you can sell (which of course get snapped up by the US and UK monied interests who just got bailed out of their bad investments by their governments).

Isn't it limited to when you're president ? Meaning you can't be sued/jailed as a president, but once you're done, you are a common citizen and can be retroactively sentenced.

That's the way it works in France and I assume in Italy as well. Also: Why Berlosconi wants to be re-elected >.>

Oh, wow. Fuck. That is just - that's outright theft. I don't think there's any other way to describe that. I mean, some people call taxes theft, but for those, you know it's coming. It's part of the cost of doing business. There are rules and expectations.

But this? Holy shit. If this happened in England or the US, I feel like the whole damned country would riot.
