That wasn't directed at you, Novel, just general advice to Europe.  The European Central Bank is being waaaaay too tight fisted with it's monetary policy.  European leaders need to threaten the ECB to make them budge.  It's surprising it hasn't happened yet as the ECB policies have already lost national leaders their jobs in places like France.

Pretty much everything else is second fiddle to the crap job the ECB is doing.

The official statement is that they're trying to attempt to eleminate misconventions about the EU. Still, investing 2 million dollars to hire people to defend your descisions on the internet is and should be a controversial move.

All in all, it's just a plan to make sure that somebody tells the other side of the story. Ie, that not all problems are caused by Europe (Because it's easy for many political parties to blame them) and that cooperation is benificial.

The big question is: Are they being open about their affiliation here, in which case it's the equivalent of telemarketing and just annoying as all hell, or are they actually astroturfing, in which case is this is pretty more morally reprehensible. Either way, it reflects more poorly on them than anything else I've seen so far...

To be fair, a large part has to do with the fact that the magazine first gives you a complete reaction of the UK's local Eurosceptic party, complete with headline.

For example, just saying that the EU decides to invest X million dollar in increasing is transparancy via the internet and social media would've given a wholey different image.

But yeah, while descision is questionable, but still, the source is by far not neutral(which is these days the case for most news) so it is understandable.

I can't help but feel that most of us no longer notice the benefits of it, and just think 'EU=bad GRAAH!', and so it's possible we may be dropping out of the EU. If it happens.

The issue with EU referendum is that people don't vote about EU. If people are unhappy about the government decisions, they will vote no. Most people simply don't know what the EU do.

The referendum will probably never happen - I would be supriesed to see the Conservatives in power next government, and even if they are Cameron is walking a tightrope at the moment trying to get things done whilst alienating his party.

If it were to go ahead, I cant see people voting against remaining in the EU should they follow party lines. There is simply too much for the Conservative base to lose (as in a leading role in the EU harking back to the good old days of the empire, keeping Johnny Forigener in check, and all the trade that the rich company owning bods like), and waaaay too much for the Labour followers to miss out on - those who would like to see greater integration and eventual adoption of the Euro for example. As for the LibDems, well, what credebility do they have anymore - no way near enough for anyone to pay any attention to what they think. Maybe fringe parties might want to leave the EU, such as UKIP and the BNP, but the SNP and Plaid Cymru get a lot out of regional EU funding so wont want to lose that.
