FYEG are the Federation of Young Greens and incorporate Green politicians from all the various Green youth organisations across Europe. From what I gather "Bündnis '90 Die Grünen" are basically the German green party.

Oh god I hate youth political parties... So full of ideas and ideals, still full of optimism that the world can be saved, rather than the end just averted for another five years. It is like they actually believe their own platform! Sickening!

It's that stupid "Younger is better" crap. Younger people come with their own set of problems; including being less willing to compromise and more prone to simplifying problems. They have their benefits, sure, as do most; but they aren't positives in and of themselves.

But Wikipedia says the FYEG are a cross-Europe organization, while the other is the specifically German Greens.

Hey, I'd rather be optimistic and naive than cynical and defeatist any day :P

Optimistic and wise is best of course though. No false dichotomies here.

They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I'm actually disappointed we have so few candidates to choose from, but hey, open primaries aren't exactly common in the EU, that's at least on step in the right direction.

Our Green party had open primaries before the last election. It sort of completely destroyed them :P

Yea, we have closed primaries, with party member only voting in Aus for pretty much every party. Any degree of open primaries are so unheard of that people not in a political party often don't even realize there is a primaries process.

The party didn't really seem to want more than one candidate. One guy disagreed, was found "inadequate" by the party commission, media hilarity ensued. The greens lost more than half their seats in the parliament.

That's all I know :P. I didn't really pay attention as the Greens kinda suck here.

Mostly because they seem to prefer infighting over actual politics.

To be honest, I don't like most of the parties so I might not be the fairest judge here.

Out of curiosity, who are you voting for (If you're voting at all)?

If I am going to vote, it'll probably be either the Dutch Pirate Party or D66.

Don't see why it was originally seen as radically democratic.* It intended to reform the system to utilize first past the post systems, and wanted to create a 2 party system. Which is hardly democratic.

Anyway, current plans seem more interesting, reforming after the German model. ((Ie, geographical constituencies divide seats on a first past the post base, and afterwards parties get additional seats, if needed, in order to ensure that everything is divided via popular vote as well.))

*Well, actually, I do. Their intention was to avoid coalition shenanigans and other political games.

Yeah, that's why I'm not really a fan of them. I agree with basically all the view points of that party, except the ones related to democracy >.>
