I don't really know, it's just something I heard, but by someone who's in the industry. I guess you'd need to keep the medicated and non-medicated animals apart (if only for feeding), which would require additional space or at least quite a lot of additional work.

It sounds more like somebody complaining they can't keep the livestock neck deep in antibiotics and still call it organic to me.

(sadly the lances had been retired in favor of antitank rifles)

Antitank lances when?
Pretty sure that's a thing in WH40k.
It is indeed above me why there is no clear Winged Hussar regiment in Wh40k. They were recognized enough to be in Kislev, but apparently not enough for whole regiment of crazy armored nobles on super-horses charging tanks with anti-tank lances.

How exactly would personnel and funding be able to enforce a refugee cap? What is your vision there?

First, a cap should be determined. it could be 20K a year, 200K a year, 0.5M a year or 1M a year. i don't know what the capacity Europe could take but i am guessing it wont be able to cope with the current numbers. after that cap has been determined, only granting asylum to refugees that are in the camps and deporting the ones who illegally enter, will very likely greatly reduce the ones trying to enter physically. numbers would be a guess but since we are seeing virtually zero refugees trying to enter Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman, it is safe to estimate that what drive these refugees is not immediate danger but seeking better living conditions. if they wont be able to get those in Europe, they will not risk their lives trying to.

Even though the numbers would be reduced, some will still try and enter illegally, yes. the bulk of people who tries to do so via Greece and Italy would have to be stopped with extensive sea patrols and a new approach toward them. right now, the cost guards are intercepting the boats, unload the refugees in Europe and send the boats back. what they should do is destroy the boats they came with and deport the people back. this is probably the hardest and most expensive task, but it is manageable.

The land routes would need a physical barrier along with patrols and watch posts. The legal frame work for such a project could take something like a day of meetings if the European leaders were up to it. The construction of a physical barrier would take a few months since we are not talking about the wall of china, but a fence. such a fence already exist for a part on the turkey-Bulgaria border and the Turkey-Greece border has a river that serve as natural border for most of it. it took Saudi Arabia a year to build a fence 3 times the entire length of the Greek and Bulgarian border with Turkey so i can't see why it should take no more than a couple of months to finish and enforce such a fence on the entire Turkish border.

Even with all these measures, some will manage to enter, nobody doubt that, but it will be manageable and controllable for a large degree.

To say that it would take decades or require some kind of impossible legality is simply not true.

Pfft, have you seen how difficult it is for our politicians to decide on how to secure the border or even actually get much of anything done about it? I imagine it would be even worse for the EU.

Send the refugees to Saudi Arabia and Oman?  Well gee...

-Put people in a very inegalitarian nation where they will be poor, prejudiced against and alienated by society
-Expose them to a well funded indigenous terror movement that recruits from the disenfranchised of Saudi Arabia and Oman, especially those who were middle class but lack economic opportunity such as Syrian refugees
-Make each one of them, personally have a grudge against the European Union and feels the European Union doesn't give a shit about them
-Guarantee some high profile deaths of refugees around the EU area will be broadcast over Al Jeezera

I gotta, say, this really is an idea that fires on all cylinders.  All the key elements of a major terrorist movement are there on a truly massive scale: suffering, alienation from moderating forces, exposure to the international terror movement and lots of terrorist funding.  I guess the only question I have is why you want to propose a strategy to maximize the number of terrorists.  Usually people want the opposite.

The really perverse thing is that Germany, by doing what it can to minimize the suffering would expose itself to the worst attacks.  No good deed goes unpunished.

Europe isn't a boat, there isn't some maximum capacity before it starts sinking. But even if we imagine there is, we're a long long way from that point. The entire population of Syria, Eritrea and Libya could comfortably be spread out over just the wealthiest of European countries (and obviously most people don't want to move).

Let's put this in context: the population of the biggest city in the world, Shanghai (24m) is bigger than the entire population of Syria (22m). There's 742 million people in Europe, and only 4 million Syrian refugees (and a bunch less of other kinds). These refugees are a drop in the ocean. It's basically just nativist prejudice that's keeping them out. Super fences and guard patrols and detention centres are definitely not what's needed.

And that would be relevant if the refugees would spread out perfectly evenly with the rest of the population, but they won't. They'll move to the same places where there'll be almost no Europeans and make proper integration impossible.

Repatriating them to countries at random probably goes against international law, AFAIK. Plus I dont know why it is assumed that said countries would cooperate.

It's a good deal, it even comes with a free shotgun and an ammunition allotment to keep the polar bears away.

Which is why the Midwest is considered so unamerican.  The people of German ancestry all moved there and of course they would never assimilate to the english speaking majority if they were living in German neighborhoods.  My brother moved to Michigan and I dont recognize him anymore.  He is always eating these weird German foods like sausage and pretzels and celebrating weird German holidays like Christmas.  And the language!  He uses these weird German words like "Hello", "Kindergarten" or "Fuhrer".

Actually, the midwest is the real American. It's all the people on the coasts with their italian and mexican foods and their fish that are the unamerican ones.
