Last week the Greek parliament voted to suspend state funding for Golden Dawn, which is the third most popular party in Greece.

The new law allows an indefinite freeze on funding for parties whose leadership is charged with involvement in terrorism, or a criminal group.

alright, i can understand arresting the leadership over the "forming a criminal group" stuff, but who the fuck looks at the concept of banning something with this much political pull and thinks it's a good idea

it's only going to radicalize them and retroactively vindicate (most) of the shit they were pulling in their propaganda works, as now it's hella easy to spin it into "the establishment are puppets of the germans who just want to keep us in debt slavery" or whatever the one over there is something i made up on the spot i'm sure people who know their shit can do better

To be honest, suspending funding ain't exactly the same as banning. Hell, Greece should probably cut funding for all parties, it's not like the state has too much money.

They *are* pretty big, you know. 10% of the vote might not seem much, but realize that the other parties are not all that much bigger.

Last poll I saw was 5% and dropping. The last election results were 7%, down from 10%.

So, in an attempt to increase inflation, the ECB cut interest rates by 0.25% today, effectively halving them. New interest rate is 0.25%

Not going to work. The Fed has cut the interest rate AND performed massive quantitative easing and still inflation ain't much. We effectively surrendered monetary policy to the banks, and as long as they don't lend, Draghi can't do much.

Nope, that was forbidden in the Maastricht treaty. All they can do is lend to bank that'll create money by lending more. (QE is kind of a loophole).
