David Cameron gets rekt by the EU

Well that's good news.

Cameron is a monster, and frankly I wish there was something bigger than just the Atlantic ocean seperating him from me.

More like up Canadas ass. I don't think Russians even care about Alaska anyway.

Russia has, unexpectedly announced a 4 day training mission, which includes 250 aircraft and 12000 men, plus live cruise missile strikes on public targets in the Komi Republic.
Putin has stated that this is a 'surprise inspection mission' to test if the troops are ready for sudden unexpected deployment. According to press agencies Interfax and Tass, more than 700 heavy weapons are included in the operation.

It is probably no coincidence that this operation starts at the same day, this week, that the NATO operation Acrtic Freedom Excersise will start. This is a 6 day joint force training mission in the far north of Europe, which has been planned in the light of increasing tensions in the Ukraine, as well as the global trend of increased interest in the oil and gas reserves beneath the north pole. The NATO operation will include 100 aircraft and 4000 men.

At this point, why not make it a joint Russia-NATO excersize? O.o

Honestly, this stuff about the "leaked Council Proposal" is most likely bullshit. The Council does not vote on things in secret. Plus, it usually do not present proposal, but vote on text crafted by the Commission.

Alaska being sold to the US was probbably, in hindsight, the most important transaction that has ever been made.

Can you imagine what the cold war would have been like if the US had shared a continent with the USSR?

It's weird to think the cold war might have gotten less cold because of Alaska.

I hear that they sold it because it was becoming a drain on their finances (this is before the Alaska Gold Rush btw). So, if it didn't get sold to the US, it would have gotten sold to someone else. Though who, I have no idea because most everybody else that WOULD want Alaska is also a rival of the Russian Empire.

A joint exercise between two hostile countries? Yeah, sure.

As Russian general and geopolitician Aleksei Edrikhin said shortly before WW1, "The only thing worse than a war with Anglo-Saxons is friendship with them".

Canada didn't exist, it'd be sold to the British.

We worse than the USA now? I mean, they have private prisons, but as far as I know not private security firms replacing police.

Hats don't have butts, friendo. At least not not-incredibly-gauche ones.

And yeah, grak, the US does have private security doing localized policing for individual interests, as well as private interests with the ability to investigate and detain (to limited degrees). Looking at the article, though, yeah, y'all seem to intend to take it to the next (inevitably horrifying) level. Good luck with that.

I mean, they have private prisons

So do lots of other places. In fact, a greater percentage (11% vs. 8%) of prisoners are held by private companies in the UK than in the US.
