BBC making a TV channel that will probably be UKIP: The channel
Top gear, panel shows, and Bonus May?
It doesn't look that bad a lineup. Definitely the kind of thing I would have on to make it look like I'm watching something.

In the interest of political neutrality, the BBC should now be forced to make some extreme leftie channel, featuring the forced redistribution of wealth, and some sort of make over show that changes entire streets into communal work houses.
Featuring such shows as 'Strictly Communal Dancing,' 'Dragon's Welfare' and 'The Voice (of the people) UK.'

Er... so we have a "Radical Left" party that is casually flirting with hard-line Russian capitalists... that's what being in the center means, I guess. The worst scenario I can think of is that Tsipras plans on becoming a copycat Putinist dictator ŕ la Orbán, but I'll try to stick to my positive outlook, for now.
The best part is that the Greeks voted for him, after dealing with Merkel's "austerity measures" for 6 years.

Meaning, it was Merkel who threw the Greece into Russian hands. Irony is overflowing.
Well, the most reasonable path available to Greece would be to "shake off the oppressive shackles of EU" and recommence exporting to the velikaya Rus. This would be a very bad thing for the EU, but a rather good thing for Greek dairy farmers, and Russian feta addicts.

They could also try to ask for Russian fleet assistance the next time Turkey tries to bully them out of the oil shelf, although I'm not sure how well that would work out...

oh damn, I've just realized how funny it looks:
Russia is friendly with Turkey
Greece is friendly with Russia
Turkey is absolutely hostile with Greece

Seems like Russia would have to choose a side here.

I would give a lot to actually know what happened in Ukraine. I think this weaken both Europe and Russia a lot, and I don't see either of them allowing that to escalate willingly.

Hmm... I think Putinist doctrine is built on the assumption that Russia never has to choose its side. The peripheral states can make whatever pleas and treaties they please, but Moscow, The Third Rome, will always remain unallied. In other words: the enemy of my friend is also my friend.

Head back into the battlefield. The truth is out there, I swear.

Russia would pick Turkey. It needs Istanbul to stay open for it to project Russian naval power, something Putin is very much interested in continuing to do.

If only we took these damn straits in the WW1, when Turkey was weak... but noo, we've had to completely ignore the best possibility we had.

And that's after several wars before waged for the sole purpose of taking them!

Given that Ataturk beat every occupying force out of Turkey in the aftermath of the War, I doubt Russia would've fared any better. Plus there was the whole... defeat and revolution thing (and during the war, the whole Germany thing).

I seem to recall a few more pressing concerns at the time...

Isn't there a thread for this kind of talk?

Either AGG or Alternate Hist. We've had an Alternate Hist. thread before, haven't we?

We did have an alt history thread at some point or another. Maybe more than one, I'unno. No clue if it got locked/deleted or just sunk into inactivity, though.
