It is true that to many Europeans the Russians are more distant and an Asiatic-ness has been cultivated in propaganda of them in the past, but considering a European aircraft was shot down by Russian rebels in Ukraine who are backed, funded and possibly even staffed by the Russian government one can understand why some people would want to talk about war and so on because of emotion. I think that's justified, but in the event of an actual war I would be out in the streets of my capital protesting against the war and I would be joining tens of thousands. It's hard for you to grasp this but the anti Russians and conservatives are a vocal minority. The vast majority of people in Western countries with regard to almost any political issue couldn't care less and have 0 opinions. Most couldn't find Ukraine on a map. They only care when their little bubble is invaded by something so big it involves them and a US led invasion of Russia would certainly intrude on their bubble.
It's unfortunate that you took such care to read that post and ignored the one where I said part of the problem for you may be that you look at history and directly relate it to the future e.g. NATO is secretly Nazi Germany in disguise. I recommend looking for precedents and trends as you have done but rather than applying them directly, learm from them and try tp make room for a degree of nuance e.g. the "othering" of Russia will likely be used in propaganda campaigns against them, but at the same time because it's 2014 not 1914 there will likely be a large number of people who will, after the horrors of Iraq, see through it all.
