Pufferfish
You pick up the briefcase and toss your pipe behind the counter, then head into the stairwell. The room is like a shrine, tall and quiet, sunlight gently falling from somewhere up above, illuminating the steps. Your first footfall echoes throughout the room and you wince. You try your best to mask the sound, but to no avail, and you resolve to keep moving. You make it to the second floor without incident. You try the door that you find there and discover it to be unlocked.

gman8181
No sooner have you raised your voice to call out to the patrol than they spin around, startled, and instinctively begin firing in your direction. Your men answer with fire of their own but the patrol ducks into a nearby doorway before they can be brought down. No doubt they're already calling for reinforcements on their radio.

SomeStupidGuy
You howl in rage and pain and bring the full weight of the pick down on the shadowy beast. You hear a sharp crunch as it connects, punching through its body and pinning it to the ground. The monster screeches in pain and then goes limp, his jaws loosening as he slowly dies.

You pull the pickaxe from the monster's corpse and limp over to your gas lamp, picking it up and holding it close to examine your assailant. Your stomach turns and suddenly your good leg feels very weak. A bug! A giant bug attacked you! Its jaws are razor sharp and its body is covered in a hard shell. The eyes are blank and the face featureless, his six legs still twitch spasmodically as black-blue blood oozes from the hole in its spine. What the hell is going on here?!

Peek into the room. what's it look like? Is there any one? Is there malevolent fungus? Are there more Terrences? Food, supplies, staplers?

Pufferfish
You reach for the door and turn the handle. You hear an ominous rumbling noise, then a crash as the door flies open and an avalanche of Terrences emerges, washing you backwards, down the stairs and into the lobby. You scream for help as you float through the front door and out into the street. Terrences are pouring from every open window and doorway on the street, and several buildings explode from the internal pressure as the amount of multiplying Terrences reaches critical mass, sending chunks of debris soaring in every direction. The original Terrence rises from your shoulder, crawling atop your head and squealing a mighty battle cry. You tread Terrences, struggling desperately to stay afloat amidst the roiling sea of flesh.

Oh god I must have rolled a six on Terrences what the hell.

I think I just magmaflooded Chicago. With my pet fungus.

Talk Terrence down, try to get the mass of Terrence to stop exploding everything.

I think I've broken the game, jeez.

I doubt it, Puffer. Just wait until you get a particularly bad roll. >.>

Anyways, run limp the hell out of there, keeping an eye out for anything notable/useful.

Maintain cover fire.

Throw my grenade into the doorway they ducked into while my men provide cover fire

Pufferfish
You ease the door open. A darkened hallway lies beyond. Some of the room doors are opened but most are tightly shut. You can't make out the end of the hall through the shadows.

gman8181
Your men keep the opposition pinned down and you remove a grenade from your waist satchel. You stand up over the rubble concealing you, then quickly duck back under it. You know even without trying first that you can't throw a grenade that far. You'd have to break cover and cross at least half the street before you could even hope to make the toss successfully.

SomeStupidGuy
You hop through the room, the ground before you black as pitch, dragging your useless leg behind you painfully. You find two other tunnels branching off in other directions. If memory serves you, one leads to some sort of annex, whereas the other continues on to another secondary chamber.

yay, more closed doors. Listen for sounds briefly, before moving to the first open door and peering in. Be wary of tripwires and other such traps while listening for sounds of life like movement.

Waters, Marburg, keep it up.  On the count of three, Schweitzer try to make a break for nearby cover that'll give you the clearest and safest shot possible with your scoped rifle, while I go to move in closer with my trench gun.

Count to three and break from cover to get closer to the hostiles.  Keep low to the ground and move as quickly as possible without tripping over myself.

Head into the annex, since it seems like the better option.

Pufferfish
You head towards the first door, on the left side of the hall, and try the knob. Locked. You cross to the next one on the opposite side of the hall. Its open.

gman8181
..THREE!! Waters and Marburg stand and start hammering rounds into the doorframe and the civilians duck back into the building to avoid being hit. Schweitzer rolls over the pile of rubble the four of you are hiding behind and sprints towards a small crater in the centre of the street and dives into it. The civilians recover from the shock of the sudden hail of shots and start returning fire once again, not having noticed that Schweitzer had moved. He slips the barrel of his rifle just over the lip of the crater and fires, the round striking one of the civilians dead in the face, sending his rifle clattering to the steps leading to the doorway and his body crumpling to the floor. The other man looks down for an instant and by the time his attention returns to the street in front of him your grenade is already whipping towards him. He reacts, rolling out of the doorway and away from the grenade as it bursts, sending hot shrapnel and splintered wood flying in every direction. He comes to his feet and spins to meet you, his rifle coming to bear. You squeeze the trigger on your trench gun at the same time Marburg and Waters fire their rifles. The shot slams into the man, shredding his belly in turning the air a misty red. His gun begins to slip from his grasp just as the rifle rounds enter his chest, one in the shoulder and the other near where his heart should be, and knock him from his feet, tossing him to the pavement.

The two men lie bleeding and you hear the radio crackle. The squad rallies around you, breathing hard from the stress of the firefight. Distant shouts echo through the fog from somewhere up ahead.

SomeStupidGuy
You head through the tunnel and into the annex. You find it to be some sort of workshop. Benches and tools lie about the room, and a few crates are stacked against the wall, mostly undisturbed. The generator is in one corner, and upon closer inspection you find it to be horribly mangled, likely ripped apart by one of the bugs.

((Absolutely beautiful))

Alright squad, let's quick pull into a building at least two stories high.  We can pick em off from the higher levels when they come down the street to investigate.

Survey area for a nearby building with two or more stories but preferably across the street from the dead bodies.  Enter the building with my squad very quietly while having everyone keep their eyes open for traps or anything in the building.

((Actually if the buildings in the area are all really unstable, dangerous or almost definitely trapped and my character is aware of this or would at least suspect it, please let me know and I'll post a different action.))
