Xantolos - The Tower
Your tower looks something like this. Except taller, and imagine its extremely tall, and constructed out of three massive logs (I call them Cesswood trees) leaning against one another, with lots of smaller ones criss-crossing the construction on each side horizontally, spaced about three feet apart each, so one would literally have to climb to reach the top. Its no watchtower; there is no platform, just a small perch at the top made of cloth with sleeves and baskets tied to the logs near the top where you keep your essentials and tools. The horizontal logs that support the construction and give you a way to reach the top start about 8 feet from the ground. You have a ladder, also made of wood, which you use to reach the first log. You pull it up with you and tie it down flat along the first horizontal log whenever you scale the tower, and let it down whenever you want to leave. Make sense so far? In the meantime:

You rise from the cloth hammock hung from where the three main timbers meet, and reach for a leather thong you nailed to one of them, swinging your way to the nearest horizontal timber. You walk to one end of the timber, where it meets one of the main vertical timbers, and rummage through the sack you have strung tightly to it, like a massive pants' pocket. You remove a small iron rod and a pair of gloves, and let the lip of the pocket fall back to cover the opening. You don the gloves and uncork the oil gourd hanging from your hip, tipping it right side down and letting the rich fluid soak the soft leather, then set to rubbing down the timbers. Its hard work, and takes half the morning, but you assures yourself its well worth the effort. You stick the thick metal rod into each of the bindings in turn and twist it clockwise, tightening the existing knots and retying those that have come undone. You're pouring with sweat by the time you're finished, and you make sure to take a refreshing gulp from your water flask.

You hear a voice echoing up from the grassy plain below. Ho up there! A fine morn eh Watcher? You turn your head to look down at the man waving up at you, obviously tall despite the distance between you, one massive hand shielding his eyes from the late morning sun. A wide grin spreads across your face. Batzuso! What are you doing up this early? Normally one'd find you snoring at your bed about this hour! The massive warrior's laugh booms up at you. I thought you deserved a wake up calling, seeing as how you do us down at the village such good! Seems rude not to at least try to repay you once in a while, no matter how much you do hate it. He lowers his hand and strides back towards where he left his horse standing. He calls back over his shoulder. Head up and take one last look around, then get your weapon and come down! I'll be waiting!

Pufferfish - Epidemic
You move on to stand in front of the next door, glancing down the hallway as you do so to check how many remain, and find exactly four left until the corridor ends abruptly with a small window, its frame polished and the frosted glass pane letting in a dim glow of sunshine. You let out an exasperated sigh and turn your attention back to the door before you. Your blood grows cold, and your mouth is suddenly very dry. A naked man stands in the open doorway, his body covered in pulsating growths and his skin torn to shreds. Black blood, infected blood, oozes from his wounds, dripping into a small puddle that has formed around whats left of his feet. He emits a low, sobbing groan and lurches forward, his one rotting eye rolling in its swollen and blackened socket.

SomeStupidGuy - Powder
Its a sure thing mate. He gestures into the darkness. The secondary lift is somewhere in here, as well as the tunnel leading back to the main shaft. I tried to look for it, but those things stopped me. He leans against his shovel and scratches his neck, staring up at the ceiling thoughtfully. Not sure if we could make it past them, but I guess its worth a shot..

Ohhh jesus. I've got my gasmask on and my trenchcoat... Oh and he's IN the doorway.

Swing my briefcase at the sucker, then get some distance between him & me. Run back to the stairwell and try to get the door closed behind me.

Almost forgot! Do you want a spear, a lucerne, a flail, a Guts Sword (please choose Guts sword! :D), something else? Pretty much anything really. Size is not an issue, as we'll assume that, in spite of whatever weapon you favour, you'll be fit enough and nimble enough to be able to scale the tower with ease and still wield your weapon effectively. So go nuts. Just not too nuts. And it must be a melee weapon.

Finn slowly nods and starts walking onwards, gesturing slightly for his new companion to follow.
"Mhm. Let's get a move on then.
I'd much rather deal with those things than just starve down here..."

Xantolos - The Tower
You climb up to the very height of the tower and gaze around one last time. The village, the place you work so hard to protect, is due the north, nestled amidst the thickest part of the forest. The fabled mountain lies to the west, where great giants are said to reside, though you have never seen any during your time there. The twin rivers to the east, inhabited by strange creatures and occasionally raiders and foreigners. And to the south, the Expanse. No one knows what lies beyond it. No one has crossed it. No one has gone around it. Nothing ever comes from it. You nod, satisfied, and drop down to the topmost timber crossing the face of the tower, where your sword rests in its leather sleeve. You take up the blade, still balancing on the timber, removing the sleeve and slinging it across your back in one fluid motion, then clamber nimbly down the tower to meet Batzuso.

He wheels his horse to face you as you drop from the ladder and stride across the field towards him. He looks at you quizzically. Are you ready to head out? We should be back sometime before nightfall, but don't think we'll be coming back here until then.

Pufferfish - Epidemic
You react instantly, whipping your briefcase up and around to smash the man's face. It connects with his head just above the temple, sending the man reeling to smash into the doorframe. His head cracks on the hard wood and infected blood jets from the nasty cut that appeared there. He slips to the floor, leaving a trail of black and crimson to soak into the egg white wallpaper. He lies still where he has fallen, breathing softly and moaning occasionally.

SomeStupidGuy - Powder
He lets out a resigned sigh, watching as you trudge off into the gloom, then throws up his free hand in exasperation and jogs on after you, shouldering his long spade and grabbing his own gas lamp. Can't even get a flaming breather around here.. Bollocks… The name's Fitzhugh by the way. You tell him your name as he comes up aside you. Richard. Good name. I've got two brothers named Richard. They always called me Hugh…. you can call me Hugh.

You walk for some time in silence before a familiar chittering sound comes from somewhere ahead of you. You stop moving and Hugh peers into the darkness. He crouches low, never taking his eyes off of the wall of black, and sets his lamp carefully on the ground. A massive bug, larger than the last one you saw, lunges out of the darkness directly at Hugh's face. He leaps gracefully to one side, avoiding the bug's slashing jaws narrowly, and swings the heavy blade of his shovel over his head in a deadly arc, chopping the bug cleanly in two and sparking against the rocky ground. The two halves scrabble for purchase in the loose dirt before finally going still. Is it a holiday, or are you planning to pitch in any time soon? He grunts as his shovel clangs into another beetle's shell, sending it rolling onto its back.

Er, no masks. You're in a fantasy world now. Like I said, these universes have naught to do with one another.

Lol I forgot you had that, I thought you were talking about gas masks. That was my fault. But yeah its already on, and in fact any clothing or items you have are explicitly donned or wielded unless its stored within another of your items (meaning its inside brackets).

The mask itself sort of like what you might see a ninja wearing, just a small half shirt that you wear under your robes and covers your shoulders, and you can pull the neck up to cover your mouth and nose. Its always up, but usually I'll say you've pulled it down when talking to other characters or similar situations.
