I dunno if being in the weakest part of a possibly structurally compromised building is the best of positions..

It's why I didn't bother with the bathroom. That, and noise. Trying to stay quiet and alive.

Gunin, this game is incredible. Waitlist me, please!

Also, Puffer is in such a nice position, and is the longest to survive, as far as I can tell.
Thanks Desu! Say, I haven't seen you around in a while. I remember fawning over your avatar a while back.

Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all night.

Hahaha!

Nice update, congrats gman!

Thanks, I thought it was a nice bittersweet ending.  With Gun's permission I might even like to play as Jim's son as my next character for purely RP reasons.

Thanks for the compliments guys, it really means a lot to me. This is the kind of thing that makes me want to keep doing what I do. :)

No problem.  Good writing deserves acknowledgement and you're doing us all us a service by writing a fun interactive story for us.  Some compliments here and there are the least we can do. :P

Hm. Perhaps. Likely not, however you might get to play as a member of the platoon again.

Xantolos - The Tower
The wind whips at the robes draped over your body. The cold night settles over the field, a lush green even in the dim glow edging over the horizon, a wall of red light creeping just above the treetops surrounding you and sweeping across the land like the coming tide. The tower sways beneath you, and you rock lazily in time with its reassuring rhythm, dozing peacefully. You've since learned to trust the tower to keep you safe, high above the dangers of the ground below, just as it trusts you to tighten the lashings every morning and rub the timbers down with oil to keep the wood from cracking beneath the afternoon sun. The sun rises higher into the sky and you yawn, breathing in the cold night air and letting it wash the drowsiness from your mind. Its time to head out for the day.

Pufferfish
You head into the hallway and try the next two doors. The first is locked, and the second only moves inward slightly before stopping. Something is blocking the door from swinging completely outwards, and you place your hands on your hips in a gesture of frustration, cursing angrily under your breath. Is every god damned door in this place completely fucked?! I mean, Christ..

SomeStupidGuy
The relief is plain on his face and he lets out a sigh, lowering the shovel. Tell me about it fella. I thought the bugs had gotten everyone. That sound you heard was me fighting off a couple of the bastards. I managed to kill two before I had to beat. There were dozens of them, He looks around nervously, as if the monsters could somehow appear just by talking about them. He follows your gaze towards his blood-soaked sleeves and shrugs. Its not my blood. Its from one of the.. Actually, I'd rather not talk about it... His faces darkens and he turns his head away from you, the shovel hanging limply at his side.

Pufferfish - Allora
Warm Rags + Leather Overcoat [pack of cigarettes, Terrence the Amorphous Blob, switchblade, revolver (empty)] + B-3 Gas Mask (doesn't need filters), Long Lead Pipe [last seen on ground behind reception desk], Briefcase [in hand; full bottle of whiskey, 4 tins of spam, 10 cans of fruit], Backpack [broken gas mask]

SomeStupidGuy - Finn (Teal)
Loose Cotton Shirt and Trousers [matches, two cigarettes, wallet, 3 sticks of dynamite, carton of fuses], Pickaxe [right hand], Gas Lantern [left hand]

Xantolos - Richard
Light Robes [water flask (full), stoppered glass of oil (full), dirk], Cloth Mask, Soft Boots

Alright either way hopefully I won't screw things up next time.

On another note, all the talk here about Cataclysm has convinced me to try it.  Very fun game, but hard to get very far without getting mobbed by zombies.  My best run was when I got my hands on a compact bow.  It was all sneaky sniping and running up until I was mauled by a swarm of 5 zombie dogs.

Eh, sometimes you're just unlucky.  :)

((Exploit/protip: 1-tile windows, or at the least doors, are your best friend; only one zombie can come through at a time, and windows/bushes etc slow them & their attacks. Also: a rock+pipe=crowbar=opening locked doors/windows without loud noise. Difficulty's changed recently with the changing of the guard- no such thing as a safe window of opportunity in the beginning, now zeds spawn in all at once. You'll have to stick to outlying buildings or take the lightstep/nightvision perks & raid at night. Or sit in a bathroom & hope you can cleave the train of zombies before they whittle you down to yummy giblets. Also, cars are almost exploitative too- with static spawns you can just do laps around a city until it's mostly clear, then loot it with impunity.
Ooh oh, also, keep an eye out for messenger bags- 0 encumberment, 20 storage.))

All right. Move on to the next two doors. Keep quiet, stay alert. Safe is the key word here.

"Hell, that many?"

Finn looks around into the shadows briefly, then shakes his head.

"Anyways, I assume I'm not the only one who wants to get the hell out of here, so let's stick together. Strength in numbers and all that. Okay?"
