You race around the planet like a demented shooting star, by your calculations, and how long you have left, you only complete one circuit, before you angle yourself towards the mountains, and the ice-caps that they bear. You streak down towards the planet, a tail of fire following you…but

too fast. Your calculations must have been off.
As soon as the energy core impacts the thick atmosphere its shields give way. The explosion is immense, a maelstrom of fury and fire and burning, liquidized steel. Then, deciding to go out with more of a bang than you already are, you activate the last two bombs on your wings, sending them spiraling into space beyond the planet. The explosions that could have leveled a continent explode harmlessly in orbit, blowing chunks of space debris down towards the planet.
Emergency Jettison Activating. something states, calmly, its tone soothing. And the world around you cracks and shatters into darkness, the letters flashing in the void around you.

A moment passes, your new systems coming online. You lay in a crater, on a pile of ash, staring up at the ‘fireworks’ that rain down on the planet. A sudden lack of gravity lifts you, slightly, before you’re slammed back down. A particularly vibrant bit of wreckage, unlike the others, shoots down to the north.
Twenty, metal capsules, each at least three meters tall, smash down around you, debris from the craters covering your form and burying you under volcanic rock and sand.

You can’t move, and your body itself is shattered, broken, shining metal laid bared beneath burnt, melting flesh. Luckily, the dirt that buried you put out the worse of the fires that were consuming you, leaving most of your power systems and data cores intact.
