We could scale the hill and dig a shaft down, but it wouldn't get much light unless the sun was at a similar angle...

How reflective is greymetal?

Bear in mind that making sacrifices gets us a random blessing, taking the level-up ability may let us choose a blessing...

Since there has been almost no debate over this at all I'll just confirm that if you pick the level up ability you get to roughly choose what you get. You get to place any item on the altar and it get's all magicked up with an ability I think you'll get some use out of. If you want you can imbue say, a bundle of sticks but they won't be as powerful as a single stick.

Would Imbuing a rotten fruit and dumping it in the birthing pit do anything?

I'm not sure what, but it'd do something.

We could place the pickaxe on the altar. Maybe it gets a light ability. If we can't get any other lightsource yet, the orebaron isn't of much use at the moment.

Use fat to make candles, problem solved.

About the hunters:
They have to hit a sleeping target, and there is already noise because of those males fighting, so, if they came closer, they would have enough time to get into throwing distance. The sleeping deerple will react slowly because it is asleep and there is noise nearby, so maybe it won't even wake up.

Emphasis mine. We're trying to think of something that will continue to be useful in the future.
Besides, we have some light plans.

We should probably work on an indoor forge with a chimney. Get the convection to work up some nice air-flow...

My arguments AGAINST Fellhawk's Artisan:
-Single use
-Doesn't provide anything that we can't get otherwise
-Doesn't guarantee us that we can get a light blessing (seriously, a death god giving light blessings?)

Arguments IN FAVOR of orebaron:
-Long term
-Not obtainable otherwise
-Game changing (imagine what would happen if we discover a DF-style cave)

Last thing: the miner can begin other tunnel if she doesn't has any light source.

Well, choose whatever you feel for a light source, so far, we have these possibilities:
-Fat-based candles
-Inner forges with ventilation systems
-Make a hole in the ceiling
-Mirror-based lighting
-Do a pit mine instead of tunnels
-Glowing mushrooms (don't pay attention to this, I just want them, that's it)

Short term solutions:
-Start another tunnel
-Waste Use a perk to make a pickaxe emit light

EDIT: forgot the mirror alternative
EDIT 2: added pit mine option

Is that metal shiny? We could batter out a polished disk and reflect light into the tunnel.

We could also start a open pit type mine instead of using tunnels.
