There's something strange with the description of the races, btw.

Quote
Humans: Average in Strength and size humans typically make better craftsmen then the other races and possess intelligence only rivaled by the goblins

Quote
Goblins have intelligence on par with Yolc

Quote
Yolc are the strongest of the races with intelligence below that of humans

So, ...

Looks like i messed that one up. At first i though goblins would be as smart as humans but i decided since getting goblins is easier I'd make them about yolc intelligence. I guess i forgot to change the human description.

Smelt grey metal (you should put in the informative post the characteristics of each)
I was going to put it in but i got lazy and figured no one would notice if i left it. Plus i'm not really sure how much depth the metals will have. I want to avoid a df type thing where everything has value multipliers and such because i want it to be on a more case by case basis with each trader and not something to mathematical.

I'll add something in there when I update next, which should be tomorrow morning (I've been messing around with trying to get my computer to do things so i ran out of time for one tonight).

Alright.

Let the avatar make gray iron for an axe blade and a pickaxe... head?
Let one of the new goblins be Gargle's assistent and help him gather filth.
Let the yolc refill the barrel with water.
Let the human carpenter take charge of the roundhouse project and look for possible improvements. (A sealed roof would be nice)
Let the last new goblin and a human walk east and try to catch some more hats.
Let the last new human go and join the hunting party.
Let Jaymi with the spear take charge of the hunting party.

Hope i did not forget anything.

I believe that a while back there was only one tool, and it was known as a hammer, although pickaxes might decide to appear at any moment... Of course, if you meant pick-axe as a weapon, then they are on the border between sanity and dozens of different pole-arms...

I'm talking about the thing the miner is using to... mine. Isn't that a pickaxe?

Have our avatar make another pickaxe using the Hexium. Give it to Yolc, and order it to start mining.

For now I think we should smelt the Hexium into ingots and reflect upon what we know about Hexium. It may not even be a good metal for tools.

Turn 24
« Reply #338 on: March 02, 2013, 07:49:31 pm »

Turn 24:

Site:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
You waste no time and get the new migrants to work.

You send a human and a goblin east to try and capture some more hats. You assign the other goblin to assist Gargle in gathering filth. You send the Yolc and the other human male south so that the Yolc can fill the barrel and the human can assist with hunting.

There isn't any wood around to make beds out of so you get the carpenter to take a look at the newly finished roundhouse. She says she might be able to make the roof less 'crummy' if she had some more wood. She proposes replacing some of the wood around the base of the building with stone and using that to fix the roof. This will take 8 Man-turns and 8 stone to complete.

Now that the roundhouse is finished you think about 20 people could sleep inside (although it would be crowded).

You use some of the leaves and branches off of the first tree that was felled as fuel for the smelter. You begin smelting some grey-metal to make a pickaxe with so that the Yolc can help the human mine. You'll need a handle for the finished pickaxe-head-thing but it wouldn't take long for the carpenter to whip one(or a few) up from the remaining branches and leaves.
South(Stream):
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The goblin is nearly in position and the Browts appear to have heard him.

Jaymi quietly notes that he is in charge of the hunting party.

I'd say we should smelt the other Hexium into a Honey-metal ingot then

I'm sure we'll get some more hexium out of that mountain. We should rather make more grey-metal for tools/weapons.

we need some shovels and sutch.
although shovels can be made of wood...
lets have the carpenter make some, along with weapons and a pickaxe handle.

Yeah, wooden shovels should be good for now. Or maybe stone?
But first the hut.

We should also make something to make the transport of trunks more comfortable.
(Since we won't always be able to cut trees near the camp)

Also, in case the carpenter has nothing better to do, he could tinker out something to easily wear a hats on the head.

Spoiler: Assigned jobs (click to show/hide)

Let the carpenter, Vulgaras and his fellow goblin improve the hood as Lincoln said.
Let Monty carve an idol of the god of death into his tree.
