I also vote against defences for the time being. Concentrate on more pressing matters.
The shaman should maintain the birthing pit himself.
have the human scout build the fire.

Voting against building defence for the time being. We do not currently have food and water supplies...

Promote the goblin that built the birthing pit to refuse manager with the duties of maintaining the birthing pit and keeping the place uncluttered.

Turn 11

Turn 11:

Site:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
It's getting dark quickly so you conscript the returned goblin scout into helping you make a fire, you give Monty your hat. He's is annoyed that he can't get straight to using the remains brought back by the human scout to dress up the shrine.

You light the fire using your smith powers. Also known as the flint set you brought but never mentioned. It was there all along of course.

The human miner digs up a chunk of Hexium. They ask you if they can stop mining now.

The roof goes up on the roundhouse. It isn't the greatest feat of construction, it won't protect you from rain. I suppose that's what you get for having inexperienced goblins design a building. It also explains the speed things are going at. It looks like wood production means that it is going to take 3 turns to put the walls up even with three sets of hands.

The humans working on the tree say they are prepared to work until the walls are up, they'd prefer to have walls to protect them.

Alright, this could be the last update for a while. I'll be moving and I don't know how much spare time I'll have, both in the next few weeks and after.

The miner can stop mining if he is tired. Butcher and cook the deerple, the guts going to the pit and the bones to the shrine, finish the house, eat, and sleep. With guards shifting turns.

And if the woodcutters insist, they can work a little longer. But only if--give them a chance to sleep.

have everybody who keeps working atleast move their work into the light of the campfire.

set up a guard shift through the night, everybody should atleast get some sleep.

Unless, of course, that's not possible.
The miner should definitely stop working, though.

Agreed, although I don't think you'll find much argument anywhere.

We should build an outhouse where the Birthing pit is!
He did need Filth!

Except mothers will also give birth inside the outhouse as well!

If we need an outhouse? Sure. Although designating it a "latrine" would probably be easier.

Lets get the miner building STONE walls(or atleast partal stone) and a oven.
If there's enough, sure.

Which ditch?

the ditch that will oneday look like this.

                   H
                   HOOO
                   HOOO
_____            HOOO_________
        \          HOO/
          \_____HO/

Where the lines are the ground, the H's are the wood walls and the O's are dirt.

Wont it be rather easy for the enemy to throw a grapple and pull the ditch over? Or maybe because of the rain, or some freak winds.
