Turn 49.1
« Reply #948 on: June 05, 2013, 06:14:04 am »

Turn 49.1:
The scouting party splits up. The Goblin with the Fellaxe heads back along the road and plans to hide in the woods until nightfall. The rest of the party intends to pretend to be travelers. Working the field for food and accommodation.

Scouting party 1:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The party approaches one of the groups working the field.

The group is made up entirely of humans. Three of them are working the field while the other two stand idle around the Stoneface. One of them is armoured in thick green leather and is wielding a pole arm (the goblins assume she is a guard).

Guard Goblin takes charge of the situation, having participated in undercover operations before. The Monk that appears to be the leader (he's got the fanciest robeafter all) greets the goblins with a friendly 'Ho there". The human guard is tense.

Scouting party 2:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

They approach and Guard Goblin explains that they are travelers heading north and how they would like food and accommodation for the night. They lack coin but would be glad to work the fields. The Monk agrees that they can stay for the night if they work the fields.

Scouting party 3:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The Goblins lay down their arms and armour by the Stoneface and begin to help work the fields. Once they aren't armed the Guard becomes relaxed.

The Monk engages Guard Goblin in conversation, asking where the Goblins are traveling to.

Hunters:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The young Ridge-backs begin eating the dead Deerple and the Ridge-back advances on the hunters slowly growling aggressively.

Spoiler: Author Notes: (click to show/hide)

EDIT: Guard goblin needs a name badly

Informative post.

Guard Goblin: "That way. More travelling away from something...not much back home, hoping for something better on the road."
Guard Goblin Name: "Guards-Goblins"

Hunters: Back away slowly. Try to improvise domestication.

+1, but not domestication. Won't work on an angry mother.

Probably more protective than angry, still not likely to be responsive. If you want domestication, kill the mother, keep the babies, I vote against this course. For now I suggest that the hunters back away, collect the distant corpse, and take it back to camp. We really want more than a single wooden spear to be fighting large predators, and one deerple will probably be sufficient.

+1.
---------------------------------------------
Guard name: Diagur
--------------------------------------------------
Undercover operation:
Have the goblins ask something about the things they are collecting, saying that they would like to know how to gather them more efficciently.
About the excuse about why did they travel, the guard should answer that they are refugees that were forced to leave with the things they got on when their village was attacked.

Nah, let's take the dead deerple and put it in front of the mother and back away. See how smart these things are.

Seconding Kopout.
Also where is the tower on the map? because we might want to list an actual town.

The lifer temple is in the Ashwood forest. Depending on the direction we came from we could believably be coming from Narg to Impae or the other way around.

VERY improvised domestication. Basically getting the mother to like us enough to not attack and maybe to have her remember us.
