Nomad Ranger has an equal focus on swords and bows fwiw.

It branches off of a straight archer class, there's no way the swords could be possibly prominent.

Besides, there's still the sudden gain of both horse and bow, and the fact that the class is frankly entirely lacking in any relation to the merc.

Both rider and archer trainees can already become NRs. This makes three trainee classes.

Anyway, Nomad Troopers were a merc promotion in FE8. It has precedence.

Could make mercs promote into sword masters, or holy blades or something. Holy blade had no reliance on the fencer class, its skill has a redundancy there that could aid in this occasion.

Holy Blade, a person who slaps the hell out of people for GOD.

I dunno, doesn't seem like a great fit to me. Neither does Swordmaster, that's kind of the Myrmidon 'thing'.

I feel like Nomad Trooper really isn't a bad thematic fit. Not great, but not bad.

Thematically, Wanderer or Bounty Hunter would be better fits.

I could see Mercenary branching into Bounty Hunter, especially. Fits the class pretty well, as a sort of mediator unit, not too fast and weak, but not slow and super strong.

Especially since Bounty Hunter takes that fact and turns it up to 11, being able to use almost any weapon.
