Consider this: Gregor and Derick have a duel with same quality weapons (Iron, for example) and in neutral conditions (no terrain, supports and so on). On whom you would bet?

Derick the Swordmaster of Doom
Gregor the Tanky Stab-Sentinel

Factganza!

Spoiler: Duchy Facts (click to show/hide)

@SC: I guess I'm a bit different when I come to it. Like I said, I see it as building a person from the roots. Start with the bones, the skeleton of how you basically want the history, then make the flesh, blood, and skin from there. So I keep big things in stone, but have fun with making up tiny facts along the way. Although I have a bad habit of keeping things secret about the character if I think it would be dramatic or hilarious to reveal later.

EDIT: This is the third time in a row that I started a new page with my post. This is getting weird.

If Alexander ends up supporting with Olison, he'll have to get over his racism.

I also build chars a lot like Xan: I come up with basic personality+history and let them morph and grow.

Usually, I don't go overboard with histories on my characters quite like I did with Seyena.

But one thing I am actually having a problem with is explaining on how she got her pegasus, and the training to fight as a pegasus knight. I keep imagining this sort of little community on some mountain in the north made up of mainly pegasus knights. Older, more experienced Valkyries and Falcoknights find potential candidates and train them to be pegasus knights. Of course, it helps that there is literally no lore behind a pegasus knight other than "They come from cold places" so it lets me leave a lot to the imagination.

But then again, I don't know what Haspen wants as the official lore for this stuff.

Yeah, its kind of been the same for me with Salvatore, although I know even less about the what actually constitutes a wyvern in official fluff other than wyvern. I don't even know how long it takes a wyvern to reach maturity for being ride-able. I guessed somewhere around a horse as otherwise I don't see why people would bother training riders for it 'cause you wouldn't be able to have many of them. And since there's four on this map alone, I'm guessing it probably doesn't take longer than a horse, otherwise that would be a many year investment down the drain once they die. Ultimately not worth it on a militaristic scale.

Perhaps one of the mercs she hooked up with after the tragic event was a pegasus rider them self?

Well, it would be like training pilots. There are a lot of them nowadays, but flying a plane/helicopter is much different from driving a car, and riding a Wyvern/Pegasus would be MUCH different from riding a horse imho.

So yeah, I'd expect something close to rigorous training, you need to teach the potential rider how to fight on 3 dimensions, up and down and left and right and forwards and back, etc. You would need to teach them how to avoid getting injury, how to spot potential threats. They would need to know how to minimize damage to themselves if the flying creature is killed or wounded, etc. Not only that, but they're riding living, breathing animals as well, animals that can panic mid-air, and send unwary riders flying.

So I believe that there would be something akin to a "flight" school, possibly bigger countries (or duchies in Berebia) have their own, where they produce pegasi and train riders. You could train a rider one on one with an experienced rider, but that sounds like it would take too long for the volume of fliers in the FE universe as you said.

But even if it was very costly to train and make pegasi and their riders, it would be very worth it for the massive benefits they can provide. Transport, (As in the Berebian invasion of Kesselring,) reconnaissance, anti-mage capabilities due to high res, medical evacuation, and fast response task-group sort of things.

But yeah, I was thinking along the lines of a mercenary peg knight teaching her the ropes.

Actually, I might have an idea. I need to think it over a bit more though.

Isn't Kellam that really quiet knight in Awakening?

Oh right, I knew I forgot someone.

* Haspen fixes.

Is it a good recap, though?

EDIT: Hey, I've got an idea. You think I should make the Recap a full-blown Recap from the beginning and plaster it on the first post for those who want to read?

Spoiler: Response to Gamer (click to show/hide)

Random note: I'm remaking Sal's portrait because the one before didn't fit in very well. I'll just make this comment; making a helmet from scratch is fucking hard. I'll probably be at this for a day or two before I'm fully satisfied.

EDIT: @Haspen: Go for it.

Okay, Recap encompasses everything from story start up to the Siege of Kesselring ^_^

Imma go host it on pastebin and make an easily-accesible link on IC opening post!

Or just stab a spoiler in first post.

I can see this being very handy to refresh one's memory. Thanks for putting in the work on that, Haspen. ^^^ It's appreciated.
