I was under impression that Sirus was going Sentinel with extra DEF for badassery. I think he even mentioned going Sentinel somewhere in the past, too.

Gregor's RES is never gonna be spectacular, but if I focus on his evasiveness as a Sentinel then he'll simply take fewer hits from all sources. Whereas a General would be taking more hits, though physical damage would be mostly negated in exchange for getting more badly hurt by mages.

EDIT: Sorry for having Gregor apparently run over without the rest of the group. I assumed that everyone moved there while I was eating lunch...can we pretend that he went along with the thieves to investigate the fire?

The Duchy of Ys is well-known for its broad acceptance of magic. Everyone, from the lowliest peasant to the most talented noble, can learn its arts if they're physically able and in possession of the modest entry fees.

What it is somewhat less famous for, however, is the effects such readily available and widely accepted magic has on the local politics. Just as Mercia's focus on mercenary might leads to some less than noble fringe groups, so too does Ys possess an unusually large number of cabals, not always entirely law-abiding and certainly not always entirely benign.

It was from one such gathering of magi that Riven hailed, a cluster of sub-cabals vying for power and prestige amongst each other. Dark Witches like Riven, or at least like Riven hoped to become, battled each other behind walls of more martially-inclined servants and allies, hoping to advance themselves and their covens to ever higher positions of wealth and authority.

Unfortunately for Riven, her mistress and coven were defeated in their bid for the recently-vacated throne of their particular barony, with their remaining members facing exile for their failure. While some opted to crawl to different covens and plead for entry, Riven decided to flee entirely, taking on a new name to reflect her home coven's status and seeking mercenary work- and allies to protect her- where she could.

We have no reason IC to believe that Adrien didn't do it, considering he was the only one who wanted to and kept acting like he was going to, despite numerous solid objections to the plan. And yeah, Adrien is currently MIA as far as the rest of the characters are concerned.

Yeah, stole the concept from him. I swear I wanted to bash melee people before that, though, he just gave me the template.

And I'll take Darkness. Ice is somewhat tempting, what with half of Darkness' benefits being .5's, but I just can't pass up that juicy crit (despite having nothing but scorn for reducing it in enemies :I).
