Actually if you take the forshadowing of chapter 2, the first letter of all the posters playing and Haspen's favorite band, you can see that he the true villain of the game and he just fake his death here.

I'm amused, most of the melee enemies won't do crap against me due to my armor. Well, except the soldiers, because that +5 total damage, even if I could soak all of their damage they'd still do five on me.

Anyway, FFS, you want me to rescue you so you can avoid potential Mage counter shot the next enemy turn? Or you wanna chance it, and possibly kill the mage with a counter shot? I'm still gonna continue smashing the door down, but I still got a spare action that I feel I can put to better use than "wait." Then again, it would eat your next turn's actions which would kinda suck since by then I'd have the door down so you'd be free to move out of the room, so its up to you.

Xan: we're playing against time here, so no rescue. I'm not sure whether I'm able to grab the shaman's door key from this range, so why don't you wait for Haspen to answer that question before posting your actions? After all, if I nab the door key, you can just trade with me (trading is a free action), grab the key, unlock the door and if you have any MOV left - I don't understand mounts - you can go ahead and get a head start into the corridor, potentially blocking the mage off from my anyway.

It's mathematically impossible for the mage to kill me in one strike anyway, so if I can't grab the door key from the shaman's drop due to silly rules, just go ahead and keep on keepin' on with the door.
