Consider this: Gregor and Derick have a duel with same quality weapons (Iron, for example) and in neutral conditions (no terrain, supports and so on). On whom you would bet?

Derick the Swordmaster of Doom
Gregor the Tanky Stab-Sentinel

Nah, remember the ruling in the book for stockpiling extra turns? Should work here.

Edit: Maybe, technically they have moved...

Fun facts: the axeman do 22 damage to Sal now. He has 23 health. The sage will have to down him (meaning he can't down anyone else) and the axeman to the west can only hit Anja with a pitiful chance that isn't even in the tens place. Wait, in range of Valor. Make that an auto dodge.

If Olison moves back to his old spot afterwards, the sentry can only hit Valor and Olison, can't touch Anja. This shouldn't down either of them, but we don't want that archer getting too close.

The sage down south is our biggest worry.

I like guaranteed kills.
Hmmmm.  Salvatore will take 1-3 damage from the Swordmaster, unless I'm mistaking something.  Alexander's been downed, and he's out of support range in either case.  Without that bonus, Salvatore has 26 DEF against the Swordmaster's 27 AT.  That makes the 22 damage from the Axebloke a bit more troublesome, potentially.

Don't forget, if you're on the losing end of the triangle you do one less damage as well. Imma double check my math on the axeman.

Right, but I need to remember to swap to an axe so Sal doesn't take 24 damage instead. Thank goodness for Canto.

Oh, yes.  In that case, Salvatore should attack with the Lance if only to convert from the Axe and its damage penalty against the Swordman.  The Axeman does 12 damage base against Salvatore with an Axe (37-26+1), and that can be doubled to 24 if he hits twice.

EDIT: Yep.  Thank heavens for Canto.

Little lost, sorry, was that a confirmation or a refutation?

Long as Sal attacks with the killer lance then swaps to his axe afterwards, he should be fine I think. Can't counter the sage, but he can't survive the auto 25 damage anyhow.

How much damage can the archer do to Matilda? Best case scenario sees her being hit. And the bishop. Need to think on positioning more.

Ah, confirmation.  I also forgot that Canto lets you swap equipped items, hence the edit.  For your question, neglecting Charisma (since I'm not sure where we want Valor yet)

Sniper against Matilda: 73% hit, 16 damage, 0% crit
Matilda counterattack (2x): 76% hit, 14 damage, 0% crit

Bishop against Matilda: 57% hit, 15 damage
Matilda counterattack (2x): 93% hit, 4 damage

Biggest threat is that the Bishop attacks Matilda first; he can tank the blow much more effectively than the Elite Sentry can.

Looking at things, I can tweak positioning to either block the above bishop from hitting, or the below sage. The best option is preventing the sentry from reaching her though. This assumes the below sage wont go after closer targets like Valor however.

I can't see an effective way to block the sentry though, the best I can think of is trying to bait the sentry in taking easier to get at targets who can't counter. This would be achieved by having Olison take the sergent's place after killing him, making the only way to get to Matilda requiring walking across the whole of the room, using all of his move, and passing up a lot of other targets.

I'm afraid that might be the best I can do there.

One thing is for sure, we gotta get this running ship shape before the next wave of reinforcements arrive in two turns.

Powder, may the glorious lightning serpent bless you. Because you gotta save us from the meteors.

Anyway, any other thoughts before I jot down the plan I'm putting forth? Better ideas hopefully? While everyone can kill someone, I'm worried about the gamble we're putting Matilda through and that we aren't healing anyone.

I expect Sal, Olison, and possibly Valor downed too. By then the other enemies would have reached us. Simply put, keep praying for bullshit for the love of everything sacred.

Because this chapter will be closer than the snow village by far. Frankly, I knew this would happen from the start. We need to buy ourselves some turns to heal somehow. We may soon need to do the rescue and flee plan.
