At least there are only a couple of enemies that can actually hurt me, and even fewer (four non boss units, Matilda, Berserker can do 14 damage, and Raquel) that can really do damage to me, and NONE (besides Raquel, maybe) who can one shot me.

That's because our items haven't been updated yet.  Well, it's rather kind of Haspen to wait on adding those; it would have been a lot riskier to run up to us and use "Talk" otherwise, especially with the snow bogging everyone down.
