Think that I should really lay off the booze. Then go to desk and drink beer.

Spiking the coffee is probably not a good idea to make a point. Regardless, see how HR's doing.

Jake was having a bad day. First he had dropped his headphones in the sink, then he had been late due to traffic on the first half of the way to work, then some old grandpa had told him to not listen to his music anymore, then he had spilled his coffee all over himself due to his boss melting or some shit like that. And, just when he'd had enough, he'd found his computer off. And he had left his iPod at home. Which meant no sick beats.

Turn 3
<- Turn 2 | Turn 4 ->

"TODAY IS THE WORST DAY EVER!"
Flip the hell out.

1. You shout in anger when you get back to your desk. You hear someone chuckling darkly behind you.

"Hehehe, Jake."

You turn around. It's fucking Lindeman. He doesn't look happy and he's holding a metal bar that you're pretty sure was attached to the wall of the handicap stall last time you checked.

"Everyone's telling me I'm crazy. That I didn't see anything. But I know what I saw. And I know it's your fault."

"Me, man?" You check your cubicle for anything to defend yourself with but you don't even have a stapler. Someone must have stolen it.

"Don't play dumb, Hallenstein. You sent me that link and it shut off all our computers. And then a demon possessed Mr. Kleinsman."

"I just wanted to share my jams with you. It had nothing to do with what happened. I saw it too!"

"You're causing it. You and perverts like McWallace. These are signs of the end times, and I'm not ready for the end times. I'm going to stop you before you destroy us all."

Lindeman swings at you with the bar (1d4+1 damage, two handed) and (1) misses completely. There is now an irate fifty-something, slightly overweight man standing between you and the exit to your cubicle.

Spiking the coffee is probably not a good idea to make a point. Regardless, see how HR's doing.

2. You head over to HR and decide to inspect the router first. It seems that Eustace couldn't figure out how to unplug it, so he just hacked through the wire with a letter opener. You may have made a mistake.

You hear raised voices from a couple rows of cubicles over.

Think that I should really lay off the booze. Then go to desk and drink beer.

4. Once you get to your desk you finish your beer. There's less left than you hoped there would be. You realize that your computer is not working, and that Lindeman appears to be assaulting the guy across the hall with a metal bar.

Be one of the people who is completely unaffected by the meeting thing since I always thought something like that, start doing work.

5. You decide to start working right away. Your current case is a particularly exciting one - Mayfly's Denver branch threw an office party and reported $30 in expenses but actually charged $30.02 to their account. You're running the numbers again to find a place to fit this into their budget, but an extra two cents is pretty difficult. In the end you decide to cancel their Christmas party this year to recover the funds.

You look at the time and realize that you did this all in just five minutes - record efficiency. You'll have to tell Anita about this later.

Just go back to work.  Take my mind off it by reading files.

6. You get back to your cubicle and browse through your file cabinet. You notice one you're certain wasn't there before. Pulling it out, you see it's a torn police report - the kind of thing that you occasionally see as an attachment. It's only the top half of the page, containing most of the technical information but not much of the description. You read it.

Date/Time of incident: 02/05/2013, 12:00 PM
Officer: Chief Craig E. Jameson
Description: I'm recording this in case something else happens. I'm not sure who will be around to [torn]
Right at noon, the entire Mayfly building disappeared along with [torn]
Not a single employee escaped. The police are trying to [torn]
if they'll be able to handle it. I can only hope [torn]

THIS IS STUPID.

Check one of the computers and assess the amount of trouble the virus causes. If we're lucky, and I mean very, very lucky, they have recently updated the AV-program.

"Ah, fuck! Man, I didn't do it, I swear!"
Jake says this, just before the metal bar smashes into his CD stack, shattering them all.
"OH NO YOU DIDN'T!"
ALRIGHT! THIS IS PERSONAL NOW! HE WANTS TO FUCK WITH ME? I'LL DEFINITELY FUCK WITH HIM!
Wrestle the bar out of his grip.

So we've got the first instance of someone not showing up. I'll give everyone at least 24 hours after the previous turn is posted, but if I'm ready to finish the turn and you haven't submited an action, I'm asking the IRC. And they have no attachment whatsoever to your character, so watch out.

Turn 4
<- Turn 3 | Turn 5 ->

Quote from: IRC, subbing for NRDL
I get on the intercom to tell everyone about the police report.

3. You run to Mr. Kleinsman's office to get to the intercom, but he's at his desk.

"What do you want, Nix?"

You hold up the police report. "The building. It's going to disappear at noon. We need to get everyone out."

He leans over and takes the report from you, then inspects it. "You expect me to believe this?"

"I don't know how it got here... it must have been time travel or one-eyed aliens or something. But it's a warning."

Mr. Kleinsman hands the report back to you. "Nix, I'm going to assume this is a prank because the alternative is that you've gone insane. If I hear a word that you're trying to convince anyone else of this prank then I'm going to fire you. Security will escort you from this building alongside whoever started this scuffle in HR. Do you understand me?"

"Sir... but... the building..."

"I admire your dedication to humor, Nix, but now is not the time." He escorts you from his office and closes the door. On the bright side, it seems that everyone near his office heard your conversation. On the other hand, they're all looking at you like you're crazy.

Check one of the computers and assess the amount of trouble the virus causes. If we're lucky, and I mean very, very lucky, they have recently updated the AV-program.

6+1=6. It seems Eustace flipped a switch somewhere that cut power to all the cubicles, turning all the computers off at once. It also seems he broke it. Wiring isn't your specialty, but you fiddle with it for a bit and all the computers in HR regain power.

You head over to an empty cubicle and log in. Several seconds of inspection reveals that the "Dwarf Fortress.exe" virus was just an ASCII game, and there never was a virus in the first place. It seems all your problems are solved. You then leave the cubicle, turn towards IT, and realize that the whole department is dark. Finance looks the same. Maybe you shouldn't have touched that power switch.

Cellabait with a cup of tea.

3. You walk to the break room as all the power goes out in Finance. It's probably nothing. Upon arriving, you realize that the microwave is unpowered and there's no way to heat up your tea.

2. You flail your arms about but don't even manage to touch the pipe.

He swings at you with it (5) hitting you right in the chest for 3 damage. "Who's got the sick beats now?"

Tackle Lindeman, and be a hero!

4. You position your rolling chair against your desk, then kick off. You slide out into the hallway and then leap off the moving chair at Lindeman, dealing 0 damage to him but knocking him down. Several spectators are impressed by your heroism.

Hit Lindeman over the head with bottle of Scotch and then say a cool catchphrase.

"Who's gonna get a sick beating now, you mean? That would be you."
An evil glint sparks in Jake's eyes, and he proceeds to take the bar and whack him with it several times.
