So some newscasters caught audio of police talking about burning the house down.  I think I've seen comments that this was just before news crews and helicopters were ordered to leave.

From everything I've heard, it was burned down by incendiary grenades and it's hard to believe that wasn't intentional.

I wonder if he could have surrendered even if he wanted to... although he probably didn't want to.

Longer version.  Watching it now.

It does sound exactly as claimed...

The BBC are reporting that shortly after the LAPD fired teargas canisters into the building a single pistol shot was heared before flames became visible... to me this suggests the individual in question shooting themselves, though it doesnt really solve the mystery of who started the fire: the suspect before shooting himself, or the LAPD starting it then the suspect shooting himself.

Of course we've had conflicting reports on this before, so take that with a grain of salt.

So this building was burning from propane for hours (?) and the body was completely scorched, but they found an intact plastic driver's license? Really?

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

It was found inside a wallet, so it isn't impossible. We'll just have to see, but if it isn't Dorner he'll probably be halfway to Libera by the time it's found out.

Oh, in that case, yeah, though it'll still be pretty damn hard to read, so like you said we'll see. Given LAPD's track record though, it probably belongs to a hobo who was having Nam flashbacks, and thought the cops were the Vietcong :P

Wouldn't it still melt from the heat?

Depends on the material of the wallet, what else was in it, what kind of plastic the license was made of, and where it was in the building.

Either way, a lot of people are going to be crying about LAPD having some sort of conspiracy with this whole affair. Hell of a poorly managed thing,

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.
