Hello community, I have some great news. It has been just over 6 months into development and I believe it is time to announce that we're very nearly done with our prototype which means its time for our Kickstarter campaign.
This will be interesting to you for a number of reasons, and I'll go through them now:
I have learned from my mistakes in the first video and will be creating a new video that goes in depth into the gameplay and talk about exactly how the game will work. You should be able to picture yourself playing it by the end of the video.
The video and Kickstarter will indeed be for VoidSpace, but please keep in mind that VoidSpace and the survival-planet project are very nearly exactly the same code-base. It is so similar, that ignoring the actual graphics that need to be created for the game, when it comes time to coding the survival-planet game, we could very easily have the first public tests started within 1 month.
We would like to release the prototype for public testing in the not-too-distant future. The current test available at
http://voidspace.ca is quite outdated, and we will make it a priority to update it after the Kickstarter campaign is underway. We're currently working on implementing the features we want to demonstrate in the Kickstarter video and so that takes priority over the stability work we need to do before it is publicly playable.
The old donation platform will be discontinued! This means that once we discontinue the donation platform, you will no longer be able to acquire further donation rewards levels. The Kickstarter campaign will have it's own reward levels on top of some of the old ones. However, if you have already acquired donation reward levels, they will certainly be honored.
It is important to note that we will likely be raising the cost of some of the old reward levels (including the $20 level) for the Kickstarter campaign.
Some people have used fake and alternate email addresses in the referral system. Keep in mind that we have not cleaned out these entries yet, but we will. If you are one of these people, we're giving you a heads up that your reward levels will be reduced once our cleaning bot has gone through the records.
We're currently on the lookout for a good graphics designer for working on the Kickstarter page itself, as well as the GUI in-game and for other website requirements.
If you're a java developer with some experience (open-source experience would be preferred), then we're also looking for more members to join the Open Development Program to contribute code in an open-source environment. Let me know if this interests you.
