If you do certain multiclasses you HAVE to get the prestiege class to make them viable.

I still do think I am unmatched by any humanoid non-mounted non-blaster characters when I am on horse, but chances are half.. or even more will take place in indoors.
I am not a fool :p so I am thinking about other ways to benefit the party, it seems battle herald is likely the best among my options.

Is there is no bard archetype that grants no spellcasting, or good level 1 bard spells that don't have a somatic component ? Should at least be useful for you.

I just did a basic math.

at level 11, assuming that I took spirited charge / power attack as my feats, I can sacrifice 2 attack roll to boost damage by 5.
So my base damage will be 1d8+3(strength, 4.5 with two handed,)+5

Mighty charge grants x3 damage to lance, not 2. So does spirited charge.
According the teh rulez, you subtract a base value (x1) from either party and sum them up
which means it wil be x5
5d8+5(3+5)
= 62.5 average damage with one hand
70 average  damage with two hand

...each round.

Wait... I hope you didn't take that "Advanced class" Mounted Class.

Mounts REALLY don't last long in dungeons and dragons for good reason.

Not a gendarme, Just a regular cavalier.
Though, I should say, I'm not playing some bioware rpg, right?
I mean, that's where GM discretion kicks in, she won't just constantly throw indoors at me session after session,
maybe you would, but I know she won't.

Edit: Also, I'm useless without a mount anyway, that's the whole promise of cavaliers. So I really don't think gendarme would be a bad choice, especially coupled with a beast rider, hell a goblin beastrider / gendarme on a wolf would wreck massive shit even in indoors... Hell, I may even play a cavalier in your session just for that as well.

Ohh dear... you picked the Cavalier.

Trust me DoomOnion that isn't the only problem.

For example lets say your horse fell down a pit, a 50 foot pit.

What do you want me to say / do?
Should I appologize for picking a cavalier? or should I just, what, stop playing because I picked a cavalier?
and what the hell kind of an example is that?
That's like saying, you shouldn't play paladin, because, for example, let's say you fall down a pit, a 50 foot pit.

You sir, are a killjoy. and yes, you did offend me a little.

You could say that for any class.

"You shouldn't be a wizard. What if your spellbook fell down a 50 foot pit?"

No, only that the Calvalier is the toughest of all the classes period and is easily twice as hard as any of the advanced classes.

I suggest you figure out a solution to the 50 foot pit problem because moving that horse through situations a horse might not be able to deal with is absolutely vital to you.

Quote
You could say that for any class

For every class the solution is "Climb a rope".

A horse however is 900-1100 pounds and has no climbing ability.

-

I appologise, it is hard to keep my reaction back. By all means play that class, but know what you are getting into because it is vital for Calvalier play.

at 11th level, if I took 1 level of barb, Power attack plus furious focus as feats, then Righteous Might, rage and Divine Power on... and then I make a full attack, with

Strength : 22 (14 base + 4 rage + 4 Righteous Might)
Total bab : +17/+15/+9 (1 attack added by divine power, base is +8/+8/+3, +6 Str, +3 Divine Power)
Total damage (normal greatsword) : (2d6 + 6 (Str) + 3 (2 handed) + 9 (Power attack) +3 (Divine power)) x3 so 6d6 + 63, which is 99 damage on average if all hits are scored.
Or I can take my longhammer and get 15ft reach instead of 10ft reach with greatsword, considering I'm large with divine power.

also DO has just to take a flying mount to avoid the pit problem.

Did his mount just get shot ? No problem. Feather fall, either by spell or by magic item.

Especially that FF is a bard first level spell and doesn't get arcane spell failure.

Appologize for what, do you even know why I got offended? You don't know.
You never know, that's why you go around all over the forums and take a huge dump on it like you always do, making people argue over shit
and argue with you, and half the time what you say doesn't really convey what you really meant to say.

And yes, I am fully aware of that, do you take me for a stupid? Did you think I chose a cavalier just because, what, 'WOOO A HORSE, PURTY'? No, of course not. I put some thoughts to it, and a cavalier without a horse is basically more or less a fighter with less feats. That's why I am thinking of multiclassing into a pole arm master and take 2 levels in it, because I sure as fuck don't need 7 challenges a day and the capstone for cavaliers is hilariously underpowered. If not for utility with lances but for 2 additional feats as well.

And that still is a stupid example, you can still say the same for every class, What would you do if your spellbook caught on fire?
What you said is no where near a professional opinion, it's just a downright mean spirited shit you randomly spit out without thinking over it twice.

I'll just stop here and stop derailing the thread.

To my knowledge he doesn't get that option.

Good then it isn't anything I need to know.

Nope, I assumed it was because you thought I was treating you like you were stupid, invalid, or that you make a mistake and was being overly critical.

I don't know why, I just look at what I said and what you said and then guess based off of patterns.

Oddly enough it is my backing up that caused more of an issue here then if I simply said "I think the Calvalier is the worst class in the game" and went on rather then trying to be diplomatic without trying to insult or invalidate everyone. As all I would have got was a "I don't agree" and people would have moved on.

One of the few times trying to be a jerk would have insulting less people. Which annoys me.

Well, a cleric's a cleric, and a cavalier's... barely a cavalier, it seems.
You win. You can clearly deal much more damage than me, and you can heal, you can bless, you can do anything that mr.cavalier can't.
I should just get my character killed off and play an obscenely min-maxed vivisectionist if you guys really think numbers are all that's to dnd.

Edit: You know what's funny guys? I can't seem to complain more about being a cavalier anymore, because my horse doesn't fit into this thread. I can't really complain on foot because I'm a cavalier.
It's a terrible class, I was trying to justify my existence and there it goes. There it flies away.

whoa why so pissed off man

Yes, PF classes are not balanced at all. Wizards, Clerics or Druids are the top of the food chain if played right, and Fighters and Cavaliers... pretty much the bottom.

The stuff is that the most powerful classes need preparation. a cleric or a wizard (to a lesser extent, due to the completely godlike contigency and permanency) taken by surprise is in a very bad position. a cavalier taken by surprise has a disadvantage.

No, you shouldn't.

The stuff is that I need a full attack to do this much damage, you you can just move, make one attack and move even more.

You are by far the most mobile of our party, likely will have the best armor class and do very respectable damage. Less options than me ? Sure. But I need to spend two or three rounds buffing if I want to compete with you guys in melee.

Get something like a composite longbow and a flying mount and you'll be like Genghis Khan on a flying horse, just saying.
