It's the liberals who enacted laws by which the USA has the most prisoners per capita of anywhere, death penalty, police state, military-industrial complex, corporate overlords running everything. All those scream liberal values.

It's almost as if the paradigm of US politics is shifted entirely to the right

Thread title should be changed because it isn't election night anymore.

It's always election season in America.

Isn't that true everywhere that politicians exist? Though we have it particularily bad here.

Is there any way that we can get a law passed to limit campaigning to something like a one month period?

Not really...the primary system and America's bizarre three-body Senate/House/White House system pretty much keep election mania going most of the time. Compare parliamentary systems, when you get a few weeks of campaigning leading up to each general election, and a remarkable lack of gridlock.

That, and some states have their legislatures up in odd-numbered years.  New Jersey is going to have elections in 2015, and Virginia in 2017.  The elections never stop.

I guess this isn't directly relevant to political discussion, but what's it like living under a Duchy?

It's like holiday creep. Eventually, it will ALWAYS be Christmas season, and election season.
