Pretty sure it isn't explicitly stated. Sure, a major part of the evildoers are (amongst a hundred other things) homosexual, but still. Hitler and sugar argument, kinda.

My Bible-fu is a bit rusty, but basically it goes like that:
  • Old Testament is choke-full of rules, from not having gay sex to not eating shrimps and not wearing clothing of mixed fibers. Of course, most of them are punishable by death.
  • Jesus never invalidated those rules, said he was actually coming to accomplish them, but with his whole forgiveness and not throwing stones at adulteress got rid of the punishment part. Hence why it's not official church policy to kill gays.
  • St Paul and early church leader, inspired by God and having seen visions of various stuff decided that Gentiles converting to Christianity need not follow all the laws of the old testament, but set out 4 things that have to be respected: (Acts 15:19-21) do not eat food offered to idols, do not eat strangled animals or blood and do not commit sexual sins. (Yeah, black pudding is a work of the devil).

Paul also insist a few more time that being gay is a sin, even though God is supposed to forgive gays as well.

The church would be on completely solid grounds if it said the bible was okay with teh gays.  A better translation of what Paul was denouncing was "boy prostitutes and men who had sex with them."  This became a denouncement of all forms of homosexuality because medieval homophobes didn't have the strongest grasp of first century greek.

I must confess I haven't read the original Greek, so I can't argue with this, but what about Leviticus?

Calls it an abomination, at least in the later versions.
Also, it really has a lot to say about nakedness.
Additionally, it has some weird things to say about harvesting the corners of a field and stuff like that. Really, god loves corners a lot.

Then again, the Old testament functions more as background information to the new testament.

Spoiler: Leviticus 18 (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Leviticus 19 (click to show/hide)

On a side note, I did some research, the only true anti homosexuality passages are.
Genesis 19 (Sodom and Gomarra)
Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13
Romans 1:21-28
Judas's letter 1:7

Genesis 19 is easily explained if you know military traditions of that time, Leviticus is full of other weirdness against pretty much every nonstandard Aryan Human, and Romans and Judas letter fall under maniac's explanation.

You have to admit it's more interesting than the umpteenth gun control debate. I'm sure dem homoshexuals are actually relevant to American Politics, though.

Yeah, I should probably have told folks to pack this up and move it into its own thread earlier. Whatever. Please find a new line to derail.

Leviticus is full of other weirdness against pretty much every nonstandard Aryan Human

Again, while this is true, most of the weirdness has been invalidated by the Council of Jerusalem. Not the parts about sexuality.

The Pope has a fair amount of influence over US politics, and his speech on wealth makes the topic quite current.

Yes, but the argument about how evil the Church is is another thing entirely.

Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

IIRC, neither have the parts about how you can't cut the corners of a field. Honestly, you can easily ignore the entirety of Leviticus. It's merely background information.
