No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

There will be a special election in South Carolina's First Congressional District May 8th; which under normal circumstances would be a cakewalk for a Republican.  However, the Republican who won the primary is former Governor Mark Sanford who resigned after spending public money to cheat on his wife with his Argentinian mistress.  The Democratic nominee is Elizabeth Colbert Busch, who is Stephen Colbert's sister so she can raise money to run.

So how does Mark Sanford decide to campaign?  By arguing with a cardboard cutout of Nancy Pelosi.  Seriously.

You can bet 2014 is going to have several Akin copycats. But can the Democrats retake the House? The record for House seats won by the incumbent president's party during a midterm is, if I recall, eight; the Democrats are shooting for seventeen or something like that.

I see... Colbert is getting his family into positions of power before he launches his real presidential candidacy.

Well, it,s hard to say till we see how things are shaping up. If reps take the blame for the sequestor, they might see some real failure, but elections tend to break down on personal bases, so it,s hard to say.

I don't see them gaining ANY seats. They were ahead and had a strong advantage, and they squandered it by pushing for a gun ban.

Majority of Americans want increased gun restrictions (it wasn't a ban). In any case, there's 1.75 years left for the Republicans to shoot themselves in the foot over and over again, and they will.

Not really. If the majority of Americans wanted increased gun restrictions, those senators wouldn't have voted against the bill, especially the moderate Republicans and the dissenting Democrats. Most of the "90% of Americans support this!" nonsense is from polls that ask if Americans believe in background checks, something that already exists. Going by the polls, even in the states where they do support some form of increased gun restriction, they didn't support the bill in question (see: the polls coming out of New Hampshire)

That said, Democrats will have to win seats that Romney won in.  There's only about eight Republicans in seats that Obama won, and most of those (except CA-31, which will flip in 2014 unless Democrats screw up again) are close to 50/50.

Universal background checks.  They aren't currently universal.
