Yes, I want to feed people to aquatic metroids and take over the only part of the world that matters.

Hehe, silly Acadians and Carolinian, competing for power. The best states use their massive economic leverage, and territorial holdings, to remain cooly neutral.

NY would probably annex New jersey, Parts of Conneticut, and just sit there. A massive, all powerful state, and it's incredibly useful upstate, just minding it's own business and making money off war. As God intended.\

The midwest would be easy pickings though. Low populations, even lower densities, and Tons of material? Yeah, it's the new africa, with the coasts as the european powers.

The Midwest isn't some unpopulated wasteland misko; the areas around the Great Lakes have about the same population and city centers as California.  Unless you are referring to the Great Plains states west of the 110th line of longitude.

I mean states like Wyoming(5.851 inhabitants per square mile (2.259 /km2)), Montana (6.858 inhabitants per square mile (2.648 /km2)), EITHER of the Dakotas, next ot each other on the list, and the big, pink, freezing, oil-covered elephant in the room:

50 Alaska1.264 inhabitants per square mile (0.488 /km2). It also ranks forty-seventh in population. Yeah, that wil be independant for long.

North Dakota has more nukes than anyone else and a rifle for every farmer, thankyouverymuch.

Maybe we could finally flee to Canada, though, might have to move the international peace gardens, but that's doable.

But will north dakota want those nukes when the feds aren't paying for them? It costs a lot a dough.

Besides, we have upstate newyork, which nullifies your farmers. They are our own personal texas, but with snow where there is usually desert. And Natural Gas instead of Oil.

However, i must state I am against Balkanization in all shapes and forms. Due to the significance behind the word Balkan.

Also, if anyone tries to invade Michigan, we're making you go through Detroit first.

Invade? Uh, no. Frankly, if I have to take Michigan, I'm just burning down Detroit. I won't even have to cripple the fire department because they take days to respond anyway (seriously).

I wouldn't even need napalm or white phosphorous, regular old fire will be more than enough.

That's fine if you don't want us. We'll just be sitting here hoarding all the fresh water, huge oil sands shale deposits, oil and natural gas deposits, huge amounts of forested areas, as well as copper and gold. It's cool.

You realize that burning down Detroit is an annual holiday tradition that they themselves engage in?

Quote from: Wikipedia
The crimes became more destructive in Detroit's inner-city neighborhoods, and included hundreds of acts of arson and vandalism every year. The destruction reached a peak in the mid- to late-1980s, with more than 800 fires set in 1984, and 500 to 800 fires in the three days and nights before Halloween in a typical year.

I can see it now: the Army of the Carolinas marches into Detroit....and not a single fuck is given. Then the Red Wings win another Cup, and our army is annhilated in the victory rioting. (This should be a reminder of how crazy Detroit is -- people die in riots when they WIN. :o)

You are not thinking of the people I'm thinking of then. Trust me, My mom was raised up there. It's like the definition of rinky-dink. And the guns aren't exactly few. I don't know about wher eyou were, but they do love their guns. You know those Gun laws Cuomo passed? After he passed them, his approval dropped from 79, to 57% (still really good considering most governors and the president). There is nothing but FOREST in some places.
Plus we have New Jersey. And the Bronx. And more rich, powerful, and greedy people then you can shake a stick at. And The New York Federal reserve, implements financial policy in the US, even if washington dictates it.  These are dangerous combinations. We could have our own private military, and dominate the entire former country.

Part of the time I lived in NY, it was just outside Red Creek, the definition of a rinky-dink upstate NY town. I know exactly who you're talking about, and while the environment was exactly like you said, the people are still arrogant, status-driven, keep-up-with-the-joneses jerks, unless they were exceedingly old. People in Syracuse and Rochester were extremely rude, and Onandoga (another place I briefly lived, up on the St. Lawrence Seaway) was even worse, because all the people there were filthy rich. People all across the Midwest at least pretend to be cordial (for the most part,) but in NY, if you don't walk the walk, you're dirt. If you're poor, you're treated as a lesser person. When I was homeless, I was literally spit on.

Hehe, that's hilarious to me, given my ciecumstances. Due to insane twists of fate, I live in the Upper east side and yet eke out a living on government assistance. I never knew you were homeless though?

Besides, I never said they were nice. In the city they don't spit on you though. In fact, when my sister once went out in mis-matched shoes, someone gave her $25 (It may help she's so small-looking). There's alot of people in the city who are no strangers to poverty, is what I mean.

I never actually lived in the city. I spent all my time roaming around the great swamp of the Upstate. Yeah, I was homeless for an indeterminate amount of time. The days all run together. Got kicked out of a soup kitchen in Syracuse (I think, might've been Rochester) for not signing a waiver stating that I was joining the church before I could get food. Wound up sketching stuff in truck stops and fighting in fight clubs and stuff for money for gas to get around.
