I'd wager it's conservative, but ill-conserved tea, and some psychoactive mold have developed on it...

That sounds like the mug of tea I left and forgot about for a day or two. It's really disturbing, you know, the stuff that happens to tea when you abandon it like that.

My theory is that someone fished out the tea the Sons of Liberty dumped out into the seaway back before the revolution.

Now if only their namesakes had dumped tea into the water around Manhattan instead of nuclear-warhead toting mechs.

Hahaha. Yeah.

I tried mixing hot chocolate and green tea once. Didn't work out. Ended up putting something over the glass and leaving it there/forgetting about it for a... while. We're talking days. Maybe over a week. Maybe... maybe weeks. Getting rid of it was an interesting experience.

There may have been extended negotiations involved.

Nah, nah. If what was in the glass in the end was sentient, it wasn't capable of communicating in a way I could comprehend. There was certainly more than just liquid at that point, though :-[

So are you guys still in shutdown? Still? Really?
How long before things get significantly worse than they are now again?

Honestly, it's most likely sweet tea* laced with copious amounts of alcohol. Maybe a little bit of... what, cocaine? I think that's the middle class+ drug of choice these days.

*The american sort. Not... whatever that amounts to in other places.

The middle class drug of choice is mis-prescribed pharmaceuticals. Only rich people, or poor people use cocaine.

The 17th, or whenever the protests get ugly. Which could be tomorrow.

Yes. Yes. Yes.
One week.
Soon. Soon.
We are ready for the coming of the reckoning.
Soon. Seven Days. Seven Days.
The skies will open and we shall truly understand again.
Where we're going, we don't need eyes to see.

You'll know the crisis is over when the Topic Title stops saying "x days until the end" in Latin :) (if I'm interpreting the online translators correctly).

Supposedly breaking news this hour: After the proposed six-week extension meeting failed to achieve anything today, it was just announced that the entire Republican Senate caucus will be meeting with President Obama tomorrow, with both continuing spending bills and an extension of the debt ceiling on the table.

Not entirely surprising, with the Koch Brothers (who spent over $200million this year alone on Tea Party groups and ads) officially distancing themselves from the shutdown, the Chamber of Commerce saying they want nothing to do with it, and every polling organization in the country showing three-quarters of the population blaming the Republican party primarily for their national parts and farm subsidies shutting down with Obama's approval rating the same 47% it's been forever.

Now to see just how fast the House Republican caucus consumes itself in blame and aspersions.
