Switzerland and Austria (the latter to a lesser extent) have mandatory gun ownership due to their conscription based armies.
Switzerland has moved from my childhood notion of "Yodelin Lederhosin chocolate makers" to "Hermit Kingdom high in the mountains with heavily armed vaults full of money and gold." Now, who else doe we know who acts like that?

Anyway, That's interesting on Russia. I guess between Syria, Snowden and Gay rights, there is a growing coalition of people that don't like them. And Putin.

If you're trying to draw a parallel with Best Korea, last I checked N. Korea has like, 5 bucks between the government.

I'm thinking of shorter, more drunk, richer mountain dwellers. Obviously there are differences.

"Extremely Religiously Conservative Hermit Kingdom high in the mountains with heavily armed vaults full of money and gold."

Finished that thing for you.

Chaoswizkid - as far as I can tell, you're going about finding the sources in completely the wrong way.  I attempted to find two sources and found them within about 5 minutes, most of the rest should be just as easy.  You basically need to find the journal website first, then search for the article name on the journal's website.  Some might be paywalled, but that's the reality of actual academic articles.

Finished that thing for you.

You shouldn't take anything at face value from people who make claims of mind control, even the not so obviously crazy parts.

What I've heard is that they were told to stand down due to the weird way DC jurisdictions work.  The Capitol Police really aren't meant to leave the Capitol, or something.

That makes sense. I'd believe middle-management intervention over orders from the top of the Federal government any day. This is exactly the type of results I expect to see when someone who cares more about the rules than the point of the job gets involved.

Jurisdiction issues? That makes sense, they're endemic across the country from what I hear.
