Anonymous Just Leaked a Trove of NSA Documents

Quote
In the wake of last night’s revelation that everyone in the world has a creepy NSA-shaped stalker, defenders of online liberty and generally angry internet people Anonymous have leaked a treasure trove of NSA documents, including seriously important stuff like the US Department of Defense’s ‘Strategic Vision’ for controlling the internet.

Edit:  Aaaaaand got the files.  The first link is broken and the first 4 mirrors were crap, but I got them.  I think I'll be reading through these at work tonight.
Wonderful. As much as I hate some of the things they do, they then do something like this, and I love them for it.

I hope this deals major damage to partisan politics, as it sinks in that this is the exact same stuff that people hated Bush for, and Obama has done nothing but expand on it.

And yet, Obama hasn't wiretapped people's phones.

It's not the presidency of Obama that wrote the PATRIOT and other similar policies, which allow shadow entities to basically do as they wish in the name of 'security.' I don't care who is president, the policies need to go. The ones crafted and created by congress which they always stand on soapboxes and complain about when people remember they exist.

And the congress is the ones who've insisted it be done with no transparency or oversight (and note that the two senators leading the charge to avoid any chance of holding anyone responsible ever for anything are a Georgian Republican and a California Democrat)

My list of no-fucks-giving people will soon be uncountable if this level of incompetence and disregard for human and civil rights continues.

I think this is linked, certainly mentions PRISM. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-22813893. Apparently, Labor's "urging investigation". I wonder what the response will be to this.

German authorities are already looking into this. PRISM is pretty incompatible with our privacy laws.

Because it's a secret program, and they're explicitly forbidden from admitting to or discussing its existence.

Remember that law they passed two years ago where instead of just saying they can't comment, they government was allowed to outright lie (and legally force others to lie) about the existence of government programs and documents?

This is why.

Does anybody reasonable (e.g. not SG or GG) have a statement to make (not the gov't is always evil types)?  Like say, RedKing or Mict?

Sorry if that was a bit aggressive.  Just be pragmatic, people.  I let my generally very left wing ideology slide for pragmatic viewpoints that are not quite as far left because I realize they have no chance of being held.  Lean towards it slowly, not push.

Yeah, Google and stuff would be guilty of treason and stuff if they said anything. So, you can't trust their words on this : if they're part of PRISM, they'll deny it, if they're not, they will say it, which is the same.
Honestly, PRISM doesn't even surprise me, it's in the same vein as ECHELON. I may be pessimistic, but I don't think that's the worse happening (in terms of freedom and stuff).

I don't believe government is always evil.  I believe it's dangerous.  And the U.S. government has given me countless reasons to not trust it.
