Greetings Gnomes and Gnomads. Can I interest you in a Legendary Goblin Sandwich?

Gnomoria, by Robotronic Games, is an indie game currently still in development. Already given the thumbs up for a Steam release once it has entered its beta phase (thanks to Greenlight), the game can currently be pre-ordered from the main website http://www.gnomoria.com with a 20% discount and full access to the ongoing development releases.

As per the official description, "Gnomoria is a sandbox village management game where you help lead a small group of gnomes, who have set out on their own, to thrive into a bustling kingdom." This involves developing various industries, trading with visiting merchants, attracting Gnomad migrants, and fending off invasions from wildlife and various hostile civilisations.

To get the obvious comparisons out of the way: along with games such as Towns and A Game of Dwarves, Gnomoria is what I've come to term a "Dwarf Fortress-like", and indeed it has cited Dwarf Fortress as one of its biggest influences (along with Dungeon Keeper, the Anno series, and The Settlers series). However, while your typical Gnomoria game cannot boast the same levels of (frankly awe-inspiring) depth as even the smallest and youngest world generated in Dwarf Fortress, it seems to do a good job of picking out some of the most fun aspects and game mechanics from DF to focus on. On top of this, Gnomoria binds all of these things together with an intuitive UI, before presenting it all through clean isometric graphics.

So if you're still interested, then consider clicking one of the links below to join me, or even request a Gnome and help write a new, glorious chapter in Gnomish history!

Current Adventure:

Tales of yore:

All feedback and suggestions are warmly welcomed, both on the LPs themselves or on my fumblings in Gnomoria in general :)

P.S. As this is an ongoing LP, I thought it would be helpful if I included a post or two, catching everyone up to the happenings that lead to the most recent episode. Check below :)

First day of Spring, Year One:
Right then, we're finally here, time to get to work! Together we will forge a new Gnomish kingdom, for the glory of all Gnome-kind. First though, we need a name!

It must to be a fine, healthy sounding name. A name full of hope, and prosperous purpose. A name that makes other Gnomes sigh and wonder how magnificent it would be to live in a kingdom with a name like that... So with that said, our clerks have decided on:

"Spiderslaughter"!?

... bloody hell.

Third day of Spring, Year One:
Despite our ominous kingdom name, or perhaps because of it, our founding Gnomes have begun construction of a fine young kingdom. Easily defensible with plenty of room to grow crops and keep animals. Though a couple have been complaining about bad backs from sleeping on the dirt.

Therefore, we will begin construction of a dormitory. Let no Gnome ever claim that we are anything but benevolent overlords. However, our generosity may be a double edged sword, for it seems some Honey Badgers have heard of our magnanimous leadership and decided they'd like to live here too... joy.

Ninth day of Spring, Year One:
In only a few short days our budding Kingdom has moved from strength to strength! Not only do we now have beds for our citizens, but already there is talk of constructing a great hall.

But turning our attention to present matters, our walls are all but complete! Ahhh, it will  feel good to have sturdy walls around us and the warm glow of dozens of torches lighting our home. Yes, the walls are made of dirt so we'll be abused in our sleep by grubs and worms, and yes, there's not enough ventilation underground, so the smoke from the blazing torches will probably kill us in our sleep...

But, at least we wont be slaughtered by spiders! And since we're going to all suffocate in our sleep, we will be spared the horror of waking up with worms in our ears! So everything works out well in the end!

Third day of Summer, Year One:
Throughout the previous season we not only founded this Kingdom, but quickly erected sturdy defensive walls (of dirt) to guard us from those who would look enviably upon our flourishing agricultural industry and our equally awe-inspiring Great Hall (made of dirt).

Therefore, we are now free to focus on putting the newly arrived Gnomads to work! Many will be studying as apprentices beneath our master craftsmen, however five lucky Gnomes will be afforded the opportunity to prove their devotion to our glorious kingdom of Spiderslaughter by serving as part of our military.

Surprisingly, it seemed that many of the young, newly arrived Gnomes were too shy to show their elation at this news, and some even tried to climb back over the walls in attempt to avoid stealing this prestigious gift from their fellow migrants! Naturally, such a show of outstanding physical fitness resulted in all of those who climbed the highest being immediately enlisted. They were so proud, that many of them simply burst into tears... it's so wonderful to be able to spread so much joy!

Sixth day of Summer, Year One:
During the first half of this season, our industrious Gnomes further expanded the range of products our Kingdom is able to produce. This will surely come in handy, and reduce our dependency upon trade caravans... however we still lack any real source of metals. Never the less, our military began training in earnest!

Now, with Summer's end fast approaching, we turn our attentions to our current lodgings within the Earth's secure embrace. At present, only our dormitory and great hall are located indoors, a situation which we must rectify as a matter of priority. None of us look forward to the prospect of having to work outdoors after winter has entombed us!

Tenth day of Summer, Year One:
The first stirrings of Autumn are almost upon us, and although our Gnomes have made good progress on moving our industries indoors, there is yet much to be done. Only room enough for our metal-working industry, has been carved out from the mountain's heart, but it's a start!

With the last few days that summer can afford us, we will finalise the plans for our armourer and weapon-smith workshops, and then begin work on moving further industries indoors. However, not all will be peaceful expansion! Beyond the walls of our budding fortress-kingdom, many of the Gnomes have reported hearing strange sounds. While our military may still be young, our Gnomes do not want for courage, therefore we will mount an expedition outside to investigate...

Fourth day of Autumn, Year One:
Through the beginnings of Autumn, our Kingdom grew steadily. We managed to move our sawmill and woodworking industry into the belly of our mountain home, and continued to launch occasional expeditions outside the fort. The Goblins, though numerous, were often dead or dying by the time our soldiers found them, and were easily dispatched.

Although the goblins continue to assault our walls impotently, I worry that their numbers do not seem to be thinning. Our soldiers are full of confidence however, with their moral bolstered by the 'victories' they have won recently. All seems to be progressing well, but I can't shake a feeling of impending doom...

Eighth day of Autumn, Year One:
With a heavy heart I must document the first deaths of Spiderslaughter. Four brave Gnomes perished during the inevitable invasion I had come to fear. Our hubris lead us to believe we were invincible, but the Goblin's copper hand-axes and birch logs reminded us of our mortal nature.

Therefore, our two highest priorities going forward are first, to fashion some armour! It doesn't matter if it's metal or leather, whatever we can manage. Second, we must begin construction of a tomb fitting of our fallen heroes!

Eleventh day of Autumn, Year One:
With the monument well under way, our craftsgnomes are busy preparing the decorations and building materials that will be necessary to finish this great undertaking. Regrettably our smiths informed us that we did not presently have the materials necessary to completely equip our military with metal armour.

Another of our founding Gnomes has been found dead. It seems SuperSoup87 became caught between our military and Cinderfragment's invasion. A fitting sacrifice must be found to mark his passing into the halls of his fathers. However, we continue to wrestle with the various logistical nuances involved in managing our fledgling kingdom. It is quickly becoming a dire problem, as it is impacting how smoothly our military can operate. We're also due another migrant wave, though I'm unsure whether the Gnomads will be willing to brave the frozen wilderness.

Second day of Winter, Year One:
With another invasion behind us our Kingdom is left reeling from the loss of even more of our number. It feels as though we are given only enough time to think of recovery before more of those damned green-skins appear outside our walls. Surely they cannot sustain such losses indefinitely?! I know we can't...

But now is not the time for lamentation! We have a Kingdom to rebuild, a military to properly equip, and several heroes to avenge! To the forges DapperJester and Mr C, let your furious hammers fashion armours which will strike terror into every green-skin who lives long enough to behold them!

Seventh day of Winter, Year One:
The early days of winter were spent reorganising our hopelessly confused supplies. In all the chaos resulting from Cinderfragment's constant raids, few Gnomes knew what exactly their job was, and even those who did could rarely find the supplies needed to do it!

With midwinter just past, and much of our logistical issues behind us, we are still left with the mess of unfulfilled roles and fields pregnant with ungathered crops. Most dire of our concerns, the lack of a still and almost exhausted stocks of wine! Many a Gnome fears the battle drums of the green-skin hoards, but that is nothing compared to the terror of a Kingdom of Gnomes bereft of booze!

Twelfth day of Winter, Year One:
With the last days of winter coming to an end Spiderslaughter seems to be recovering at last. Our distillery is finally in full operation, and the first casks of wine and beer are being tapped, to much rejoicing by our military!

However, with the coming of spring, the frozen passes have thawed, and along with a new wave of Gnomads, Cinderfragment send one of the largest and best equipped forces they have yet to throw at us. Yet again our walls will be painted with Goblin blood!

Second day of Spring, Year Two:
As winter came to a close we were predictably assaulted by Cinderfragment's fighters. Their persistence is almost Gnomish, but thankfully their armour and weapons leave much to be desired. With the influx of Gnomes who've heard of Spiderslaughter's exploits, we have even been able to form a new military squad: The Velvetevildoers (I don't know why they christened themselves that, and I don't intend to ask...)

But with the large pond thawed, and already having claimed its first victim, some of the Gnomes have suggested we make the area safe by constructing a platform over it. I have approved these plans, and in an attempt to boost moral among the men, I've commissioned a monument to be constructed above TheTexver II's water grave. May his spirit rest peacefully in the depths.

Fourth day of Spring, Year Two:
It seems I was perhaps a little short sighted, assuming that the other Gnomes would accept TheTexver II's corpse sitting at the bottom of the well. I don't see what the problem is myself, people bathe in the well water after all, and this isn't much different!

Therefore, while trying to distract this season's trade caravan from noticing we sold them crates full of useless bones in exchange for all their silver, our engineers begin carving out a chamber into which they intend to drain the lake... I have a terrible feeling that this is only asking for more Gnomes to drown.

Eighth day of Spring, Year Two:
Well, I must admit, I expected that project to end in tragedy, but it seems our engineers outdid themselves this time. Not only did they manage to drain the lake without any further injury, but they've also recovered TheTexver II's corpse, sealed off the new lake, and built a new well deeper in the fort!

Now, with that project out of the way, and Summer rapidly approaching, I have tasked our records keeper and Boulder to devise a more efficient system for storing and recording our Kingdom's stocks. With our genius engineer at the helm, I'm sure they will quickly resolve all the bottlenecks in our Kingdom's currently sluggish system!

Tenth day of Spring, Year Two:
It seems the tracks have been laid to speed up our industrial output and general storage woes, though I am told that it may take several seasons before the kinks are finally worked out of the system. Never the less, it already feels as though the Kingdom is running more smoothly.

Therefore, I think it high time we turn our attention to the pressing matter of personal quarters. I've received numerous reports from the other Gnomes of blanket stealing and snoring being a constant problem, resulting in sluggish, listless Gnomes dragging themselves around the fort for only a few short hours before heading back to one of the dormitories for another rest. This cannot be allowed to continue, tired Gnomes make dead Gnomes if the Goblins should attack! Speaking of which, Cinderfragment have been quiet for a while, I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this...

First day of Summer, Year Two:
Well, it was high time they send another force to test our walls, and as ever Cinderfragment time their attack perfectly to coincide with an arrival of Gnomads. However, and much to our delight, the Gnomads seemed quite capable in combat and managed to hold the goblins at bay while we burrowed a hole into the wall to allow our military to charge out. Not a single Gnome fell despite facing one of the strongest invasion forces we've seen to date. Hurrah!

Now, with Summer officially here at last and with more hands to help tend to the fields and haul items about the fort we are in a good position to prepare for the next assault. I have commissioned a number of advanced weapons that our tinkerers assure me will completely change the face of war... they call them 'cross-bows'.

Fourth day of Summer, Year Two:
Our cross-bows are strung and the tinkerers have enjoyed some sudden popularity among the military Gnomes due to their demonstrations of the potential of this new weapon. But the last few days have largely been spent preparing new personal quarters for our Gnomes. The lucky few who had won the lottery on the first rooms completed have been extremely complementary towards the carpenters who fashioned the walls and beds. Not to mention their productivity has gone up as well!

But now that we have the weapons themselves, it's time to look to our Gnomads and select the keenest eyed from among them to found our first cross-bow squad, the clerks have already come up with a fitting name: The Silvery Lurkers of Battle!

Seventh day of Summer, Year Two:
It took very little time to find two willing sacr--volunteers to field test the new cross-bows, and work was quickly started to build a suitable platform near the entrance to the fort, that will allow them to rain death down upon the green-skins without ever being in danger of retaliation... that's the plan at any rate.

With the platform nearing completion the nerves run high among the newly enlisted Webster and Eli. Still, despite the exciting times we must not lose sight of the other important jobs to be done about the fort. It's high time we address the chaotic sprawl of our farms.

Eleventh day of Summer, Year Two:
Well, I think it quite safe to call the cross-bow invention a resounding success! The howls of tortured green-skins were like music to our ears, as our keen eyed marksgnomes picked them off all through the night. Not only were our military plans successful, but the past few days have seen a marked improvement in the efficiency of the fort's haulers!

Now, with the coming days I'm counting on the high spirits of our workers to speed up work on the monument to those brave founding Gnomes who died, securing our fair kingdom in its early days. Additionally, given the success of the cross-bows, I think we should enlist at least a few more Gnomes to join the Silvery Lurkers of Battle.

First day of Autumn, Year Two:
In the final days of Summer, we have addressed many issues regarding the work orders about our Kingdom. Much to the delight of the guild unions, we have reduced the number of duties for each profession, which should also have the benefit of streamlining our industries.

But as Autumn begins anew, in this, the second year of Spiderslaughter, I am reminded that the mighty monument to the bravery and heroism of those founder Gnomes who gave their lives in the first year, is still unfinished. This cannot be good for moral. Therefore, we have directed our guild leaders to focus the efforts of their subordinates towards that gilded tomb.

Fifth day of Autumn, Year Two:
In the past few days progress on the tomb has proceeded extremely quickly, and the effect on the spirits of our military has been quite obvious. Everything seemed to be moving along well, so well in fact, that no one noticed the date... the death of a Gnomad and a merchant served to cool everyone's mood a little.

However, with middle of Autumn almost upon us, Eli reports from their cross-bow platform that the green-skins seem to be agitated. We're not sure what's got them stirred up, but they're certainly acting a bit more cautious than usual, Webster has suggested that they may have encountered something dangerous in the wilds, but what could that be?

Seventh day of Autumn, Year Two:
Despite the sudden and abject panic of the lesser gnomes, at the news that a Mant had been spotted near Spiderslaughter, the military were quickly rallied and sent forth to slay the harbinger of doom. Though it took them quite some time, and many were left with scars (both physical and mental...) the beast finally succumbed to the relentless onslaught of hammers, swords, feet, and even teeth. A righteous victory to be sure!

With the Mant slain, and the corpses of fallen goblins (and more importantly, their armour and weapons) safely stowed inside the fort, I ordered the walls once again sealed. Now, with our safety assured for at least a few more days, we will begin work on expanding our walls even further, for I suspect even greater perils lurk in the darkness beyond our torch-lit fortifications...

First day of Winter, Year Two:
The other Gnomes have begun to question my right to rule. Apparently, my prophetic senses of impending danger have given rise to rumours of witchcraft and sorcery. Pah, the fools, I am simply in tune with the cyclic nature of the world... and so, as per my prediction, our scouts reported the presence of Ogres beyond our Kingdom's walls.

However, with our enemy drastically under-prepared for the might of Spiderslaughter's military, we must quickly bring inside the corpses of our foes and more importantly their precious armour and metals. Why they carry around bars of bronze we are as yet unsure, but for now, as this is the only source of new metals we won't question it too deeply.

Third day of Winter, Year Two:
Following the chaotic battles of the past few days, our military has been mourning the loss of even more of their number. The mighty SpartanCupcake, a veteran for many seasons, fell to a particularly vicious monitor lizard, and this has shaken the confidence of some of our newer recruits.

I hope that over the following few days we are afforded time to properly mourn and honour the dead. I have ordered all those who can be spared to stand down and relax, though this currently only includes the Silvery Lurkers of Battle, I hope to allow the Velvet Evildoers some time to recover away from training. While our military recovers work must continue on moving our pastures further from the gates.

Sixth day of Winter, Year Two:
Work progressed reasonably well over the past few days, towards rehousing our livestock within enclosed pens. We had even had time to begin the construction of secure lodgings for our ranchers, so that they could be closer to the animals they tend.

And then, disaster struck... it appears that the initial stocks of lumber we had gathered upon founding Spiderslaughter had been infected by a withering sickness. I had each woodsman, lumberjack, and even the chef inspect the tables and chairs twice, and thrice again. But each time, they confirmed the initial report. It was only a matter of time before the wood would rot and collapse.

So, rather than await the inevitable failing of the majority of our workshops and tools, I have ordered that we take the time now, while the walls are sealed and we can spare it, to completely demolish and reconstruct our workshops. It is a dark day when you must watch all the work and progress your kingdom has made, be undone, but it is a necessary evil. Therefore, in the coming days, all efforts will be directed to accounting for the remaining stocks of goods and rebuilding the industrial heart of the kingdom!

Ninth day of Winter, Year Two:
With much of this season already spent rebuilding our industrial might, and more still to do, many Gnomes took to sneaking about, trying to be seen to be doing work while actually slinking off the the great hall to listen to the war stories told by the off-duty soldiers.

Therefore, it is with growing impatience I set the guild leaders to task, organising and preparing the stockpiles so that our idle Gnomes will have work to busy themselves with. Already, we have our stonemasons and carvers rebuilt, and soon we hope to have a sawmill and carpenters again. With these, further rebuilding should progress much more smoothly.

Twelfth day of Winter, Year Two:
To our relief, the sawmill and carpenter's workshop have increased the speed with which we have been able to produce the necessary tools and materials for further rebuilding. Though it took longer than expected to finish them, such delays should be greatly reduced now.

However, while the citizens have been toiling to rebuild the industries we had to tear down, the military have largely been idle. As one can imagine, bored soldiers do not make for a safe fortress, and so I find myself in the odd position of hoping for a small (and not especially well equipped) invasion from Cinderfragment. Something easily enough dealt with, but large enough that our soldiers can work out some of their boredom from their bones. I hope that I am not wishing even worse dangers on the fort by thinking this way...

First day of Spring, Year Three:
With the coming of spring Cinderfragment, sensing the likelihood of a migrant of Gnomads coming our way, sent a welcome party consisting of well armoured Goblins and an Ogre. The Goblins were easily dispatched by our crossbow Gnomes, however their bolts could do little but wound the Ogre. In time, it would have died, however time was not on our side. With the Gnomads due any moment, the decision was made to meet the enemy head on, and despite some injuries, our military out performed itself and the terrible beast was put down!

In the following days work continues on rebuilding the industrial heart of Spiderslaughter, through some trials and tribulations. It seems that while many of these workshops have previously been used, our tinkerers have devised more efficient building methods, which regrettably involved a wider variety of materials. I am assured that this makes the process easier, in the long run, however some of our builders are finding it difficult to remember all the changes involved...

Third day of Spring, Year Three:
Much of the ground work for rebuilding the fort has already been completed, by our masons and carpenters, and over the past few days our Gnomes have made great progress towards restoring Spiderslaughter.

Therefore, over the coming days our focus can once more begin turning back towards expanding our kingdom. Though there are still some essential industries we must rebuild, we will soon be back on foot and ready to meet the enemies of our Kingdom head on. Once we have sufficient medical supplies, we will open the fort once more, and deal with whatever Cinderfragment has, in its folly, decided to throw against us.

Sixth day of Spring, Year Three:
Over the last few days the Gnomes were successful in constructing a tailors workshop, and so the flow of medical supplies could commence once again. Additionally, while that was under way, an industrious (though somewhat macabre) Gnome came to me with an idea. Why not make use of the copious amounts of bones and skulls we have to make armour? It would not be as resilient as the metal skins our soldiers wear, but perhaps it would be useful for our civilians? Intrigued by the idea, I have commissioned the creation of several skull helmets of various sizes.

Now, as the middle of spring arrives, it's time to see what the Gnomes of Spiderslaughter think of their new head-wear, and while we're at it, perhaps we could organise a militia. Obviously, with a hardened and well trained military to hand, there should be no time where calling on the militia will be necessary, but perhaps a little training (at least in how to defend ones self) wouldn't go amiss in those who regularly venture outside of the fort to retrieve the spoils of war...

I really gotta catch up on your Gnomoria Series.  I started watching it around the time plump started featuring you in his Dark Souls LP but sort of got out of watching it due to plump putting out so many Fallout 2 Vids.

Ahh, yeah, his Fallout series is pretty addicting. I've been trying to catch up to it myself, I wasn't able to watch as many as he was uploading each night initially lol, but I'm getting closer to being caught up, little by little. lol.

I hope you enjoy the Gnomoria series though. I'm having great fun playing this fort. Especially with all the changes we've gotten recently in patches. The next one may increase the amount of Gnomads a fort can attract, that'll be a really big improvement, I'm looking forward to it :D

Eighth day of Spring, Year Three:
Although hesitant at first, the civilians of Spiderslaughter gradually warmed to their new necromantic headwear. So much so in fact, that some of them were nearly tempted to launch an assault on Cinderfragment's last remaining Ogre when the walls were opened to allow our military to end the invasion.

But with a bit of time to settle, life has begun to return to normal. Boulder, the Engineer, has also continued to devise improved production methods for even the most basic furnishings about the fort. But with Summer almost upon us, it is time to address the shortage on space that our farms and groves have suffered with since the early days of our Kingdom. As much as it pains me to lose the pleasing sight of our lake, it is high time we filled it in to create more workable land.

Eleventh day of Spring, Year Three:
During the past several days work has progressed surprisingly well on filling in a portion of the lake, and thus expanding the room we have to farm and tend animals. However, with Spring coming to a close, and warriors from Cinderfragment arraying beyond our walls, the decision was made that we would have to launch an expedition to deal with them before the inevitable Summer Gnomad migration.

Therefore, I have just issued the order to have our bone doorway taken down, that our eager military can deal with the Goblin besiegers. However, a Mant has already been sighted just beyond the nearest hill, will the military have time to deal with these Goblins before the Mant reaches the gatehouse?

First day of Summer, Year Three:
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I must record the deaths of several of our number during a prolonged siege by Cinderfragment and the Mants...

Duckman444 – Rancher
Brackattack – Chosen Undead
Eli – Soldier
TheTexver III – Soldier
PhantomKO7 – Soldier
MultiErikw – Soldier

Through a day and night of near constant battle these brave Gnomes were snatched from us, some due to the relentless assault of Ogre fists, but most to the one great weakness of all Gnomes. Loss of blood.

Thus, while summer has now begun anew, we feel no joy at the warmth and vigour that already spreads across the land. These are dark days for Spiderslaughter, and all thoughts now turn to what we could have done to prevent the tragedy of the past days...

Third day of Summer, Year Three:
The fates seem to have granted Spiderslaughter a brief respite these past few days. Everyone is still shaken by the sudden losses of so many, but work has continued. Perhaps a little faster than usual, I expect some of the Gnomes are trying to lose themselves in their work, a shelter from their grief.

But with much of the work done in preparation for our agricultural expansion, and the defensive walls enhanced even further, we find ourselves turning our focus to the imminent merchant arrival. It has been some time since we bartered with the caravans from the old country, either for wares or news. I hope they bring plenty of ore this time!

Fifth day of Summer, Year Three:
To much fanfare and celebration not only did one merchant arrive but two. Their market stalls were a hive of activity as the Gnomes of Spiderslaughter sought to trade both wares and stories. However, in private I was given dire news of marauding Mant armies which had caused great destruction and suffering in the lands of our old home. Naturally, I was quick to reassure our merchant guests that Spiderslaughter had experienced only slight skirmishes with the odd Mant scout, this seemed to calm the traders somewhat.

Still, it is troubling to hear of such troubles abroad. As a precaution, I have instructed our builders to seal the fort as soon as possible, once the remaining spoils of recent combat with the Goblins is brought back inside. In the mean time, I have requested that Sergeant Webster have the Silvery Lurkers of Battle organise extra patrols along the ramparts for the coming few days...

Sixth day of Summer, Year Three:
It seems the merchants had not embellished their tales of the Mant armies which have been roaming the lands abroad. It wasn't long before the first reports of Mant sightings were relayed to me from the Silvery Lurkers of Battle, followed by more, and ever more reports. It seemed unending, but I have no doubt what we've encountered is little more than a small raiding party.

Therefore it is with no small measure of urgency that I have instructed the blacksmiths to begin work on the tools necessary to restore our engineering industry. We must prepare ourselves, and it seems the best way to do this will be with traps. But at least it would seem probable that we'll not have to worry about Cinderfragment for a while, if they must fight their way through these Mants in order to reach us...

Ninth day of Summer, Year Three:
It seems we may have underestimated just how quickly word can spread when it comes to riches and other capricious displays of wealth. Despite the threat posed by the Mant workers, Cinderfragment did send an invasion force. Though thankfully it seems all but the officers were slain as they battled their way through the Mant ranks, on their way to Spiderslaughter... unfortunately, those officers survived with nary a scratch, and worse still, they are equipped in some of the finest armour we have ever seen!

Despite the calls for the walls to be opened by Millionfoul, who assures us that he shall deal with both the Goblin officers, and the Mant invasion, by himself, unarmoured, and using nothing but his teeth and the toes of his left foot, I have strictly forbidden the opening of the fort. Instead I have the Silvery Lurkers of Battle keeping watch from the ramparts, and doing what they can to wound the besieging forces while our engineers and blacksmiths try to devise a plan...

Eleventh day of Summer, Year Three:
While the Silvery Lurkers of Battle kept close watch on the occasional (but terrifyingly brutal) skirmishes between the Goblins and the Mants, within the safety of our walls, Spiderslaughter continued to build up. With the addition of a smelter, work began on returning useless items of armour and weapons into usable bars, but despite the welcome news of progress in that area, the arrival of two-headed ogres put something of a dampener on everyone's mood...

However, now that we have a steady supply of bars coming in as a result of our smelter, it is time we return our focus to the devices our engineers have been tirelessly slaving over at the Tinkerer's workshop. Now that our mechanics industry is reforged, I am hoping that we may be able to begin the construction of traps to turn back the Goblin menace!

Fourth day of Autumn, Year Three:
It seems that reasonable progress has been made over these past few days. Not only were the engineers able to finally link our windmill to the mechanical wall (though to my dismay, I was informed that we would require more power than one windmill can produce) but our tailors were also able to begin restocking our emergency medical supplies.

Over the following days I have instructed the that the efforts of the fort should be redirected to prioritise the construction of a second windmill. Once that is done, I will have the tailor continue to produce bandages, and as winter approaches, we must turn our attention back do the farms and groves... as difficult as it may be to focus on such mundane things, with roaming bands of Green-skins and Mants outside the walls, if we neglect our farms any longer then the only thing we can look forward to through Winter is a slow death due to thirst and hunger...
