Good mods for Adventure Mode?
« on: February 05, 2013, 09:33:17 am »

Don't say Genesis, it already crashed 12 times only this day and it's always when something is happening, people say Masterwork is made for Fortress Mode so I guess don't say that either, what are other good mods?

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

Unofficial slogan of Bay 12 Games.

Well, I'm looking for a mod that will improve Adventure Mode, not a crafting mod for adv mode.

Well, okay, what exactly are you looking for in Adventure Mode then?

The random creatures mod by Talvieno. It gives you as much, or as little new content to explore as you wish, and you can generate new content for each new world; new creatures, megabeasts and even civilisations, I couldn't play adventure mode without it.

Masterwork
I don't want to say anything bad about Meph's mod, but Masterwork needs a lot of fixes and fine tuning for adventure mode :), he does not play it himself. His fortress mode tuning is great though.

I've tried to make Genesis very playable and fun in adventure mode, and Post-Apocalypse is always focused on adv. mode a lot. Wait for the next release though unless you want to screw around before generating a long history world there (do people still do it like I do? A single world with a dozen of forts and hundred of adventurers?) because I am working on a new version for P-A mod right now.

You are the only one reporting those crashes, give me a save with them please. I want to try to help you man :). I asked you in the thread but there's no answer.

I like the masterwork mod for the balancing plus the recipes to make crafts

But I mostly make small changes in the raws myself

I would suggest wanderer's friend. Really. Being able to craft some gear is rather nice in the long run. For extra content, the random creature generator Bralbaard suggested is good, I personally enjoy the Vilous mod, and there's always mods like Fear the Night that offer some new supernatural beasties to thwack. Or become. Hell, I have a mod uploaded that offers a wee bit of new ways to set people on fire right here.

I'd also strongly suggest looking into the modding subforum's "community mods and utilities list". Browse through that and look for anything that may interest you.
