I can see how this answers DS's question, but you didn't address DS when you gave that answer, and it doesn't start in a way that suggests you're answering a question.
I guess that isn't scummy. But it gives me the feeling that you're trying to edit the past.
My response was a general answering of several people's questions, rather than my usual one-to-one style. I just picked out the part that was a reply to Deathsword's question. If you don't believe me, go back and have a look at the post. In my post about Deathsword I tried to be as honest as possible in showing what I said and did, even if it didn't reflect all that well on me.
Tiruin was asked what team he'd put forward and he said the same Deathsword-including team that Nerjin 'randomly' picked. Tiruin defends his choice of Deathsword:
Not true. Tiruin was never asked for a team proposal. The question was regarding what he would do as a spy, which you conveniently omitted from your quotation.
Apologies, this wasn't a deliberate factual mistake. When going through over a dozen pages of responses, it's easy for small misstatements to arise.
The first salient point is that Deathsword was against self-nomination:
A number of us have changed our opinions about self-nomination since the start of the game. This is meaningless.
Not meaningless. I myself have changed my mind about this and other things, it's telling that Deathsword as a spy believed self-nomination was not in the spies interest.
Only Nerjin and notquitethere ever addressed a question to Deathsword. Toonyman, Toaster and Tiruin talked briefly about Deathsword. This leaves Dariush, Captain Ford, Leafsnail, and Zombie Urist who never made an attempt to talk to or about Deathsword.
Not true. As I mentioned above, Deathsword was included in a team proposal I made.
And if he hadn't been included in Nerjin's team proposal, half those people wouldn't have talked about him at all.
I'm sorry for missing that. You're right that if he hadn't been included in Nerjin's proposal then all but Nerjin and I would have completely ignored him.
People ignored Deathsword because he didn't interact much with the game. Still, one wonders why no attempt was made to send him a single question or raise his presence at all by the four players mentioned above.
Is there a big difference between "said almost nothing" and "said nothing"?
Why would I address somebody who doesn't have time to talk to me when I have my hands full dealing with the people I am talking to?
There isn't a big difference and I'm not singling you out in particular, though you're acting as if I am (which is interesting). I thought the normal course of things was to try to address everyone in a game at least once, though there is obviously no pressing need to do so if you're a spy.
Did Dariush or Tiruin or both have an incentive to put a spy on the team?
Casting broad suspicion on everybody = scum scum scummy scum.
Where did I cast broad suspicion on everybody? I drew limited suspicion on Tiruin and Dariush. Wilfully misinterpreting an earnest attempt to analyse facts and raise questions seems much more scummier.
Summary: You just got ten times scummier. Congratulations.
(I wish I could say what I really think about your post, but I'd have to break forum rules to do so.)
You're being a lot more rude and belligerent than I have seen in the past when you were genuinely innocent. I didn't overly suspect you of being a spy before, but now I'm beginning to. I am trying to bear in mind that you could be perfectly innocent and filled with misplaced righteous indignation, believing yourself to be suspected by the wily NQT.
Summary: Your WoT is a huge load of WIFOM fuel. Aside from several factual errors, it casts broad suspicion on a large group of people (six), downplays the significance of your own interactions with him, and asks vague questions with obvious answers.
Only two people directly addressed him, and Nerjin addressed everybody in his first post (and didn't address DS after that point). So that points to you as the only one to interact with him in a meaningful way. I think that is a helluva lot more suspicious than anything you brought up in that WoT.
You repeat 'WoT' as an attack of my presentation not my position. My goal was to present all the facts about Deathsword's posts in one place, and I think I succeeded. I apologise for any factual errors (you only mentioned two which doesn't quite amount to 'several'). I offered my response to Deathsword even when they were unflattering to me (I voted for Nerjin's team with him on, I was open about not suspecting him). The main reason people didn't interact with him was because he was a lurker, I don't think that makes people who didn't talk to him are all that suspicious, I just raised it as one of the facts of the case that was of interest.
Ford, are you really trying to argue that meaningfully engaging with people is your idea of scummy behaviour?
Dariush isn't wrong. That question absolutely makes that assumption. All I see is you dancing around the question.
I said "Did Dariush or Tiruin or both have an incentive to put a spy on the team?" That's very different from saying "Dariush or Tiruin or both have an incentive to put a spy on the team" and even more different from saying "Dariush had an incentive to put a spy on the team". I was drawing attention to a point of interest, not making an accusation.
2. I never said anything about it being a sign of scumminess. Anyone versed in elementary mathematics could clearly see that there were more people that ignored Deathsword than could be scum.
And yet you threw suspicion on them (us, I guess) anyway.
Your overreaction is interesting though. Feeling guilty, Dariush?
Please tell me you're kidding. Dariush is practically purring.
I merely raised the issue in the context of the facts I'd presented about Deathsword. I thought it interesting that few people had talked to Deathsword so I put it down. That you're seeing suspicion where there isn't anywhere is
very interesting, especially now it could be interpreted that you're buddying with Dariush. But look, it could be that we're both getting in a tizzy over false reads from one another, so let's try to keep a cool head.
