Last time i saw a project like that it went down the drain. The team was a professional team too it just didnt saw the light of day. On paper there is a very nice concept, but to deliver it, im sceptical, i really do hope they do but eh, im sceptical.

DF doesn't mold players into its image - DF merely selects those who were always ready for DF.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

Can I create a non-human character? No?  >:(

The description is worded really well, but it does not really describe all that much about the game. It uses vague terms that allow the reader's imagination to fill in the gaps with what they want out of the game, rather than what may be delivered. Though many kickstarters do this.

That being said, it does look like it has the potential to be at least a good game, so I will be keeping an eye on it. But I am also exercising "septicism" ;D

Plus I really hope the modding tools make it in. Definite plus for me.

The rule of thumb I always employ is that whenever someone pitches a feature to you... Always translate it to the worst possible way it could be implimented.

It isn't to say you will be correct but it helps you get a hold on the hype and often leads to a more rounded picture of the game as you look further to see what exact features are being included or excluded.

For example: Are our characters finished from the getgo? Are powers a one for one deal or are there power trees? Is their unlocking? Do our characters improve? Does this improvement mean more powers?

It often get hyped anyway because sometimes I just desperately want features to be included in games.

They have been updating the comments section of the kickstarter with info and answers to questions people have. Sounds like we will be getting updates and info on some specifics people are wondering.

To my calculations if the game has a steady increase... it will get the funding.

Though I really shouldn't say anything possitive about the game. In my experience the quickest way for me to doom a project is to actually give it compliments. Ohh boy I wish I was joking.

Looks cool. If anything, it'll be fun to run around throwing cars at people.

I think the morality thing might be overly simplified, though. Sure, having factions that are extreme in every respect makes for a plot that's easy to get rolling, but endings and player decisions usually boil down to, "Do you side with faction A, B, or C, or do you nuke everything?" It usually feels stiff and awkward, and it seems like they're headed down that path, focusing on game play before all else.

Still, I dropped $20 in. Unless it's a complete flop, I should get at least 20 hours of enjoyment out of it.

I'm a bit septic.
I don't normally point out spelling errors but... AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAA
Gave me a good laugh, too. :P

Double post, because I asked some questions to the Devs I thought you might be interested in hearing. They seem very willing to answer questions and such.

What kind of RPG elements, if any, are you planning to add to Project Awakened?

We want to have character progression so that the player can see themselves grow and become strong as the game goes on. We also want to have some elements of player choice. We think that it isn't enough to have create a player if you are pigeonholed into a specific role and so we will allow you to play how you feel your character act.

Will this game be dependent on DLC or in-game purchases for content after the initial release?

While we do not know our exact plans for post launch content; I can say that a look into our other releases will show free content long after the games themselves release. I would not expect us to change with this game.

I just asked this one, but it might be a couple days until they answer:

How are you planning on making different abilities feel different from another, besides different attack speeds, damage, and ranges? Or, rather, how are you trying to make melee combat _feel_ different from magic so you don't get the Call of Duty effect, where one gun feels exactly the same as another?

If anyone has any other questions that they haven't had answered (They might just be answering donors), I can ask. They seem to be very involved in the process.

If the characters are supposed to be so unique, why does the player have a katana strapped to their back in EVERY screenshot?

Quoted from Phosphor:

"Good eye. The simple explanation is that as we were prototyping melee, we only made a katana animation set to start with, so that is the only fighting style we have ready to show, which means currently all characters use katana for melee :) Obviously in the full game we plan on having a much more diverse set of weapons and fighting styles to play with.
We've heard a lot of suggestions so far - let us know what types of melee weapons and fighting styles you'd like to see beyond swordplay!"

Either I did not understand the description or the game is not very revolutionary.

It doesn't have to be revolutionary to be good, and there's also no claim of being "revolutionary" on the Kickstarter page.

Because if you have an option to carry a katana, you will.
