Are there any recent Monster Rancher type games out there? I loved Monster Rancher, but it seems that it must have not sold well because there hasn't been a game like it in a long time.

I think the most recent ones were for the DS or some other handheld.  These were really great games, I probably especially liked them because they were pretty much spiritual successors to Mail Order Monsters, one of my favorites of all time.

In looking for games like them, I discovered to my horror that they were also pretty much the same as pokemon, and there are about a billion pokemon games and clones out there.

That revelation killed my interest a little bit, but maybe one day I'll pick one up.
