Yeah that's also an awesome game. but i want MOAR!

Sadly monsters and bosses are always the same. The variety I am looking for is probably only do-able in lower graphical games.

For some reason the only franchise I can think of that from what I understand might fit your requirements is The Sims. It probably isn't what you are looking for but at the very least I can vouch for The Sims, The Sims 2 and both the slew of expansion packs and the content from the respective modding communities for both games being random and full of content.

I think the reason I am recommending this is because of your mention of Elona and Dwarf Fortress, though I could also recommend Dungeon Keeper based off of the Dwarf Fortress bit since it too is fairly random with some aspects of the game and some people liken Dwarf Fortress to being the lovechild of The Sims and Dungeon Keeper.

tl;dr I recommend The Sims, The Sims 2 and Dungeon Keeper based off of personal experience and comparisons between that and what you have said in the opening post.

inb4 someone gets on my ass about recommending products made by Electronic Arts or affiliates of said company.

Nice inb4, because I despise EA :)

But yeah I have played the sims before. But I don't see where you've gotten the randomness from, or how you scale in strength. And no I don't consider a house with an extra room scaling.

If you want randomness in Sims, do an asylum run. You control 1 sim an a full house and hope everyone doesn't kill themselves.

I guess Disgaea could fit, it has randomly generated dungeons and plenty of endgame stuff to do.

While I have a huge itch to play it (why can't it just ported on the PC?  :'( ), it's random tile arrangement is pretty much all it has. It just has so much content that it's an awesome game.

I'll back up frog fractions, it's a magical experience.

You might also check out Yume Nikki, .flow, Ib (although that's a touch more structured), Yume 2kki (difficult to get working), ME, there are a ton of games like that and that game LSD dream emulator that someone suggested earlier in the thread is one of them. There's a thread here if you have trouble setting them up/actually finding them.

I'm thinking... 52 pickup. It's VERY random, takes a while to finish, and you'll certainly be in much better shape when you're done. That meets all the criteria, right?

The wikipedia entry to 52 pickup is hilarious! You know, being wikipedia I expected a cold analysis.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/52_Pickup

Quote
Any deck of cards will do, although the game works best with traditional playing cards. 'Unnecessary' cards such as jokers may be ceremoniously removed. The game mechanics require at least one player who is familiar with the game and one player who wants to be initiated into the game. The first player, as "dealer", throws the entire deck into the air so the cards land strewn on the floor. The other player must then pick them up.

Quote
Other card games sometimes transpose into this game. For an example, a child falling behind in Go Fish or Crazy Eights, or bored by a never-ending game of War, may simply declare "52-Card Pickup!" and sweep all the cards off the table.

Perfect Dark isn't terribly random, but it is jam-packed with content and unlockables. There's three ways to play through the main campaign: Straight single-player, cooperative (with an AI partner or multiplayer), and counter-operative (one player takes control of various enemies and tries to stop the other player). Each difficulty has it's own unlockables and objectives, with some levels being radically different depending on which difficulty you play.

There's a firing range in the hub world that unlocks even MORE stuff, namely classic guns from Goldeneye. I'm fairly sure there's some weapons that only exist as secrets in single-player, so you have to search those out before you can use them in the firing range. Some unlockables are even exclusive to the easier difficulties, which means you actually have a reason to go through missions on harder or easier settings.

All of this is stacked on a pretty extensive multiplayer system, including a handful of very complex and fun AI "simulants" (eg. the TurtleSim starts with 200% shields, the DarkSim is an aimbot, PeaceSim grabs guns to keep others from using them). It's not very random, but it's a ton of fun and full of crap to do.

1000 Blank White Cards can get pretty random. It's multiplayer only though, so that may be a bit of a problem. It shouldn't be hard to modify it to be like an RPG or at least a parody of an RPG.

That is, quite simply, one of the best things ever. I feel ashamed that I have not played this game.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

If I might be brash, brazen even, I might recommend my own game. Sort of one of the goals for it is to create a nearly completely randomized, and therefore completely personal, gameplay experience. This includes randomized worlds, randomized NPCs, et cetera. Sort of like Dwarf Fortress style world gen in a text RPG. Still pretty early in development, though!
