Most random/content filled game ever?
« on: February 03, 2013, 11:37:55 pm »

I'm looking for a game that is filled with randomness and content so that you can have very different experiences every time you play. Games that have come close are dungeon crawl, elona, dungeon of dreadmore, and DF (obviously), but I am looking for something even more random. And preferably a game that takes a long time to finish one "playthrough", and where you can become many times stronger then when you started.

You want even more randomness than roguelikes?

I'm not sure I can help you with that o_o;

Random? Revenge of the Sunfish. Holy crap. It might be the same every time, I don't know. Like everyone else that has played it, I've only played it once.

There was a random game about a frog and fractions but i dont remember the name, while its not a RL or anything similar, it is quite random indeed.

I'm thinking... 52 pickup. It's VERY random, takes a while to finish, and you'll certainly be in much better shape when you're done. That meets all the criteria, right?

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

I doubt there's a computer game out there that will do all you want. Tabletop RPG's, however, can run for long periods of time and can be extremely random if done correctly. To spice things up, have a different person run the game every 2d4 weeks.

Good luck finding a group though.

Scriblenaught?
That's a good choice. Half the fun is coming up with ever-more creative ways to solve the puzzles.

Binding of Isaac, I guess.

Seconded. Many items plus some bizzare item combinations. It is quite random and can result in very different playthroughs. The playthroughs are quite short though...

I also remember an old graphical rogue-like called Ragnarok something-something. A valid strategy was to polymorph yourself (it was permanent) and hope for the best. It was also hard.
