Filling in pools
« on: February 03, 2013, 02:39:19 pm »

I'm trying a harvest dwarf challenge for fun and I've got a nice map. Problem is there are several pools around. Is there a way to fill them?

You can pour magma into them and they turn into obsidian. Otherwise, assuming that it is outdoor (ie no natural rock above the pools that can be caved in) I don't think there is a way. Of course, assuming you have another soil layer, you can also channel out the rest and do the challenge one z level lower?

Not sure what your "harvest challenge" entails and whether pouring magma around the challenge grounds is good or not :-)

you might be able to do it with a cave in, if you want them walkable you can just build floors over them. Magma of course obsidians it over

To de-murk those tiles, simply build a paved road on top of them, and then remove it. The floor covered by the road will become standard soil once the road is removed. Be aware that once you do this the tiles won't gather rainwater anymore.
