Question about smoothing/engraving stone
« on: February 03, 2013, 02:34:50 am »

I just have a quick question. Can I smooth and engrave stone in furnished rooms? Does any type of furniture hinder dwarves from smoothing and engraving the stone around it? How about stuff like workshops?

Thanks for the help.

You can smooth/engrave furnished rooms no problem, workshops on the other hand have a certain sweet spot that won't get smoothed/engraved so you might have to remove the Workshop if you really care for those 3 tiles [I might be wrong].

I do think that the Xs when you build a workshop aren't accessible to an engraver.

Engravers can smooth/engrave any tile that they can stand on. Thus most furniture (beds, cabinets, coffers) can be smoothed after being placed. Inaccessible tiles can not be smoothed/engraved (statues, certain areas under workshops, and a few other things).

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

statues in particular block access so you may have to remove those to get at some tiles.  most other common room furnishings the dwarves can engrave around without difficulty.
